Glock finish repair question
I recently acquired a used Glock G21 that is in great condition, but the slide shows a light segment of a circle.
It looks kind of like a coffee table where you left a Coke sitting too long.
The circle is maybe 3/16-inch wide and maybe 2-1/2 inches in diameter.
It's not deep wear. You can only see it well when you get the light just right.
I assume it is from being carried in one of those hard plastic holsters (I have never owned one myself).
QUESTION: Is there any easy way to eliminate the circle?
I can take a photo and post it if need be.
Thanks.

Buffing/cleaning.
I would never attempt refinishing a Glock and would not send it off for refinishing.
(Sorry about the delay in responding. This thread fell off my radar screen.)

You could just take it over to Birdsong's and get the top-end done in Black-T.
You wouldn't have to ship since you live so close by.

Here's a thread about Birdsongs new finish on a Glock 23

Good info! Thanks.
This G21 will most likey live most of the rest of it's expected life in the darkness of a gun safe---yes, another "safe queen".

Re: Glock finish repair question
The finish on a Glock slide is a strange thing. You've got the outer lawyer that's as prone to wear as anything else. Under that there's the Tennifer finish that's as close to indestructible as gun finishes get. What you're seeing is wear to the outer layer. It's not a problem other than being an eye sore.
I'm not sure if you could clean this problem away so I'm not going to speculate on that. There are lots of good alternatives out there for refinishing though. Give me a holler if you're interested in Duracoat. We'll also be doing some Parkerizing in the near future. I can hook you up.

Re: Glock finish repair question
Will Parkerizing work over Tennifer and some of the other popular finishes? Just curious.
As far as the original problem, if it's not just awful, it might be able to be fairly well covered up with a little care and a permanent marker. I've found that they are usually a little too dark and shiney, but smudging it a little with your finger can work wonders. It has to be perfectly clean first and you have to be careful with certain solvents, but it will hide minor stuff.
Bad thing about Glocks is that the finish has been changed several times and what worked for me might not work at all for you. I've got a flat black touch up pen that works sometimes, but it wouldn't work at all with my newest Glock that's got the new flat grey finish. However, it was perfect on some of my older ones. I liked the one before the grey that was sort of a shiney black best. It was durable and looked good. The new grey looks sorta cheap to me, but I'm sure it's as good as any of the rest.

I can't think of any reason why parkerizing wouldn't work over tennifer. I will check with Glock to confirm that though.
