Heavy Sand

Post by shoeshooter on Thu Aug 11, 2011 3:08 pm

Want to upgrade my rear bag, but plan to do it right. Sinclair is still out of stock on heavy sand. Any other sources?

I had never heard of heavy sand, so i did a little googling and found this. Should give you some other options.

Just take a ride up Hwy 61 and at every junction box the phone company has is still sandbagged about 5ft high from the flood water, hop out grab a sandbag and you got sand for free. lol

Also, masonary sand is fine, the finer the sand the less air you have in the bag making it heavy.

If someone had told me a year ago that I would spend $45 for a 15 lb. bucket of sand, I would have laughed them out of the room, but...I just did. Shipping is a killer on this stuff, but it IS heavy. Put it in a new bag and you really have to try to move it. Considering it will last virtually forever I guess it will be alright. I just have to keep shooting for 20 more years to amortize the cost. Smile

Zircon sand from Hart.
