Gun shows are so exciting! Pics added!
Had a moment so I thought I would share some of my finds with my fellow gun lovers. At the Hattiesburg gun show I picked up not one but two handguns - used ones anyway. I always go straight to Mike Smith's table to look over all his goodies. Lots of stuff, but no winners this time. So I thought I would go around and check out all the goodies. Finally saw an older model 38 no dash Smith. Not in the best shape, but good enough that I wanted it. A few minutes later it was mine. Funny , because I usually don't buy until I have checked every table, but this time I pulled an impulse buy, oh well. So I kept on looking because I had still not checked all the tables yet.
A few tables later and I found a model 60 no dash with a bobbed hammer. Fairly good shape so thought I would try to deal. A few minutes later and it was mine. Wow! Two older smith's and had them both for $650 OTD.
Pics now posted. Not the best but it will have to do for now.
Regards to all,
Howard

Thank you all. I felt the prices were reasonable also. I have a real weak spot for snubbies so I just could not help myself. Went to the Desoto range today and shot them both. Both shot good with no issues.
Leopard, just curious, but if you don't mind sharing with us, what goodies did you pick up?

I'm the same way. I always seem to find great deals on Taurus 85s, Smith 36s, 642s or some other small revolver. I always say it's the last time but it never is.

Joe - I am certainly not biased on brand either. One of my better deals was a less than $200 pickup on a taurus ultralite for my wife. I have a colt agent thats hers also.
All in all, I have come to the conclusion that, for me anyway, barrels 3" or less and 6" or longer or the ideal lengths for a revolver. I did have a couple with 4" barrels, but ended up putting 3" on them. Guess if the price was right I would still buy a 4" but I am just not sure what I would do with it.

Well all, everything is not good in Mudsville! My good gun show finds bit me. After shooting the model 38, it did shoot good, I had a chance to give it a good scrub-a-dub this afternoon. A close inspection under good lighting revealed the dreaded hair line crack in the frame right below the barrel. Rats, thats what I get for having poor eyesight and not making a good hard inspection. I should have done some scrubbing before I jumped. My bad. I am going to the gunsmith section to see if anyone can tell me if it's worth sending to S&W for any feeble repair attempt. Rats!

That is truly unfortunate. I do hope you can find a repair at a reasonable price

i didn't word that as good as i could have i guess. i ran across some good buys, but i didn't actually buy any. i had picked up 2 handguns in the week prior to the show, so i figured i had better pass on anything else for a spell.
sorry to hear about that hairline crack you found.

Sorry to hear that man. It's always terrible when you get bitten like that. It's happened to me a time or 2. Oh well, you live and learn I suppose.
Happy shooting.

You know cannon, I have been bitten twice on internet buys and just this once on a face to face. If S&W refuses to do anything, it will be the first time I have lost all the purchase price. Oh well, as lawyers and such like to say, but in Latin, "Let the buyer beware".
Thanks all,

Well S&W did look at my gun and decide they could sale me a new one at a good price. But alas, I don't want a S&W revo with a lock if I can help it. So I told them to send it back and I would go from there. Win some lose some.

You can "plug" the lock, I did it on my 500, it's the only Smitty I own with the "hole".

Yes sir you can. If it was a new design or style, eg., 500, 460, or nightguard, I would go for it. But an old style you can still pick up old ones in, well I just can't get over the hump on them, yet. Maybe someday.
Something I was surprised to here from S&W was the guy told me I should still be able to shoot light loads like wadcutters with no problem. I am always up to a challenge so I will get close measurements - I am a machineshop foreman - and see if anything changes after some wadcutters go downrange. If anything appears I will singout in a new post.
