Mississippi Enhanced Handgun Training Course

Our first training course has been set up for October. We might be able to add another course between now and then, if needed.

I met with Sgt. Williams at the MS DPS and I have been approved as an instructor for this class.



2011 NRA BASIC PERSONAL PROTECTION IN THE HOME, COURSE:

The class will be held on Friday October 28th, 2011 at 6:00-10:00PM and Saturday 29th, at 8:30AM until 5:00PM. You must attend both days to be rated in this class. We have instructors that are registered with the Louisiana State Police to conduct this course and qualify them for the training requirements for the Louisiana Concealed Carry Permit. We are also registered to teach classes approved by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, for the issuance of the enhanced pistol permit.

The Friday Night classroom will be held at the Southwest Gun Club indoor range. No student will be allowed to bring any firearms on the night of the class. The Saturday range training and live fire will be conducted at the Southwest Gun Club’s McComb Range Facility. Unloaded firearms may be brought to the McComb Range, on Saturday, for familiarization and training.

Directions to the range: Southwest Gun Club’s McComb Range facility. It is 6 miles East of McComb, MS on US Highway 98. When driving from McComb, drive East on US98 until you see the Homestead turnoff sign. Drive 2 miles further and the entrance to the range is on the North side of the road. If driving from Tylertown, MS, drive past the Bogue Chitto River Park and look for a roadside market on the right. The range road is 2.2 miles past the store. The name of the range road is Edna Drive.

The club will furnish .22 RF and .38 Special handguns and ammunition for the firing phase of the course. You may bring your own unloaded firearms and ammo. There will be no discount for using your own firearms and ammunition. The following subjects will be covered by this course:

The cost of the Course is $65.00. Students will receive a bound book with Chapters dealing with each lesson in the course. For further information, call Doug Bowser at 601-341-8797. Participants will have to be pre-registered before October 22, 2011 to take this course. Shooters may cancel their registration but should do so before October 19, 2011. Those canceling after that date will forfeit the course fee. At the Saturday session we highly recommend everyone in attendance to use eye and hearing protection. You should also bring a bag lunch and any type drinks you may want. We will supply ice water.

yall could probably fill a class sooner with the new law and all and fill this one as well. I would be in for one before October but booked up in Oct.

Carry in places not allowed now. As I understand it you will not be able to carry in K - 12 schools, Police Stations, courtrooms or wherever the owner of the property posts a no gun sign. Do a Google for MS HB506.
