Pending to approval wait times?
I just wanted to post this up and see how long everyone has been waiting on getting their approved stamps back. My first was three months to the date and the second one liked about 6 days being three months and the latest one I sent off is now close to entering its fourth month. Just kinda wanting to see some of the other wait times everyone else is having to deal with.

I'd like to see too. I'm wanting to get a pistol caliber ar upper with a 16inch integral suppressor. Wondering how long it takes to get approval. Also does county have a bearing on it. I'm madison county.

Re: Pending to approval wait times?
why would you invite the Feds. into your home ?...all you people that are filling out these forms for suppressors & full auto weapons are just giving directions to the G'ment boys when they come to get our guns & they ARE going to....might as well get ready for it ...don't give them any help by filling out any forms ...what good is a suppressor ?....after you've been on the recieving end of an AK you soon realize that it's not the gun you hear but the bullet going by [hopefully]

Re: Pending to approval wait times?
Im right at 3 months from sent. I checked in with my dealer around 8 weeks in and he said it will probably be around the full 3 month or more wait. I dont really understand this increased wait time. I dont even think SBRs should be regulated, i just dont see the point... I am waiting on 3 form 4s and 1 form 1.
Kendak the reason we do this is because its a hobby and its fun. Shooting a suppressed gun is the most fun i have ever had shooting. I dont think the "gment boys" are ever going to get our guns... Ive heard that for years now, sick of hearing all this paranoid stuff. And even if they ever did, i want to enjoy the experience while i can!

Dave, if you wanna check and see when it went into pending status you can call 1-304-616-4500. That is the number the the atf and all you have to do is tell them you wanna check the status of a stamp and give them your serial number and they will hook you up. May help you get a little better picture of a time frame.

First, I don't own a suppressor. But my take on why to own one. Other than the "play & fun" factor, a rifle suppressor would be useful in not giving away your position (if the need arises). And your ears aren't ringing so you can hear future dangers better (if the need arises). As for handgun and SMG suppressors, I feel both above points hold true, just on a smaller scale...........

right a suppressed rifle WOW!...you people been out in the sun to long...it don't work like on TV....how you going to suppress the bullet unless it's subsonic or the bolt going back into battery or the click of the switch going from semi. to full or the dust & muzzle blast in the daytime or flash at night...BTDT in real time & it don't work

Re: Pending to approval wait times?
Been waiting since Mid-June on a rifle suppressor...
Take the argument of whether to suppress or not or whether to deal with paperwork and ATF to another thread please
BTW my personal opinion- a 308 bolt rifle suppressed...in the right hands...is a hell of a weapon

Re: Pending to approval wait times?
I'm at 3 months for a machinegun on a Form 4, about 2 months for a suppressor on a Form 3 (still hasn't made it to my dealer), and about 2 months on two Form 1 SBRs.
All dealings with the BATFE are inconsistent, unpredictable, and remarkably inefficient. From submitting a tax stamp to writing them a letter, all interactions will take months and you'll never know why one took 30 days and another 180. It's like dealing with a capricious Greek god.
I would write more, but I think a black helicopter has locked on to my position. Knowledge is power.

I'm at one month and BATFE hasn't cashed my check yet.
The goverment knows where I am. I let them park their helicopters in my reptilian underground base because it is near Bitwise which makes it convenient for us ( oops I mean "them" ) to keep an eye on him.

That is unusual. The check should have been cashed by now. Do you know for sure when it was mailed?

Re: Pending to approval wait times?
On checks - the rumor is that as of about two months ago all personal checks have to be sent to the FBI before they are cleared and that this adds an additional 5 weeks onto the process. Who knows if this is true and, if it is, why the policy change all of the sudden and why send it to the FBI?! Anyway, this is what my dealer told me he had been told from someone at the BATF. I sent my two Form 1's with cashier's checks to avoid any additional wait times, real or imaginary.
Dock have you heard anything about this at all?

Re: Pending to approval wait times?
That is news to me. I had a customer send in a form 4 two weeks ago and the check was cashed on day 7 after mailing. The way the process works is when the paperwork comes in the check is detached from the paperwork and it is sent to the person who handles the banking. It is deposited pretty quickly because they dont want the checks sitting around where things could happen.

Re: Pending to approval wait times?
I sent in my form 1 about 3 weeks ago with a personal check and it was cashed within the first two weeks. Wrong address maybe?
It showed up as a debit from my account. They are doing them electronically now.

Guess I'd better call the dealer. He cashed my check for the can 2 days after I wrote it.

Mike, did you send it certified mail? I started doing that after one of my checks got (lost) in the mail and they claimed they never received any of my paperwork. If i can remember correctly it was only 4 bucks last time I sent one off. Maybe that might help.

My dealer sent it in. I'll check with him to make sure.
