Wanting an STI Trojan in 9mm.... Thoughts??
Hey guys, I lurk around a good bit, but just recently signed up.
Anyways, I have never shot pistols in any kind of competition, But I bought a GSG 1911 .22 a few months ago, and really wanting to shoot some steel with it.
I like it so much that is has me wanting a centerfire 1911. I am really considering an STI Trojan in 9mm. I want the 9mm strictly for cost. I figure it would be a good steel gun... And could shoot minor in USPSA single stack... or perfect for IDPA ESP ( although apparently there is no IDPA around central MS???)
What are yalls thoughts on this?? should I just bite the bullet and pay more for ammo and get a .40 so I can make major in USPSA single stack and L10?? Or stay with the 9mm so I can burn up more ammo at the range?
Thanks for the opinions!

i've heard nothing but good about STI guns....go for it!
if you really want to burn up ammo, take it from me and buy a Browning Hi-Power........haven't been able to stop pulling the trigger since I bought it! similar looks and ergonomics to the 1911 as well.
I'm a big 1911/anything JMB designed in general guy anyway, so I'm always in full support of a 1911 purchase of any kind!

If you're looking to get into shooting USPSA, a Hi-Power isn't an ideal setup.
You'll "burn up ammo" just fine with the Trojan.
As for 9mm vs .40, if you're serious about shooting matches, you'll want to be shooting major power factor. Get setup to reload and the price difference isn't as drastic.

Yea, while Hi-powers are cool, I am not considering purchasing one.
My thought is to Have the Trojan for shooting Steel, IDPA, and Minor Single Stack just for fun....
After the Trojan I think I am going to save up and Get an Edge 40 s&w for limited or L10.

Definitely come shoot limited. The division has doubled in number of shooters in the past two years at the local matches in Byram.
Plus an Edge is an excellent gun to start with.
