Re: What guns do you have for HD? Where? and Why?
I keep my LCP in my pocket unless I am asleep, a Taurus .40 with a light by my side of the bed, a .38 on my wife's side, a 9mm by my chair in the den, and several pepper sprays throughout the house. Pepper spray is cheap and it could buy you some time to get to a gun. It is also nice to grab when the doorbell rings. Our Golden Retriever is the friendliest dog in the world, but he has a loud bark when something is not right.
As far as a plan, we have had several practice runs. We have an alarm system that has door, window, and glass break sensors and a no delay feature for use at night. I also have a wireless motion detector set up in front of the carport that has a chime in our bedroom. I have had it go off probably 3 times in the last 5 years, fortunately all false alarms. The first time it went off I turned on a light, put a shirt on quickly and looked out the window with a flashlight. The last couple times I have immediately picked up my pistol (in the dark) and walked out my side door quietly with my wife waiting inside the door with her phone. She will call 911 if I holler. The dog stays with her. I have several "Trespassers will be shot" signs and Watchman Security signs on all the exterior doors and windows. I also have 4 military trucks in the driveway. It would have do be a dumb SOB to try to get into my house!
Please review my plan and let me know if you see any flaws or have any suggestions on how it might be more effective. Thanks, John

Keep guns all over but with a granddaughter and grandson, have to keep them up. Grandaughter is pretty good with backing out of a room with a gun. Need to work more with grandson.
A lot of ya'll mentioned long guns but the trick to that (I probably picked it up here) is to keep the muzzle down. Guy grabs it, you just drop to your knee and then the muzzle is in line with his body. Firing will hit his body - leg or mid section. That'll make him let go and your one hit up on him If you hold it pointing up, your in for a fight.

I have a Tromix (Saiga) S-17 Short Barrel Shotgun with light, laser and 20 round drum magazine. BUT, I LIVE IN JACKSON SO I NEED MORE FIREPOWER!
Also, home alarm is mandatory as is several well placed loaded pistols and shotguns. During the time of the home invasion plague, I also had a Keltec 556 pistol with light, laser, and 100 round drum mag. Still felt undergunned!

First line of awareness/defense, outside of physical security, is our female German Shepherd that can rattle the walls when she barks...
I have a Glock 17 with TLR-1s weaponlight on my nightstand loaded with CorBon 115grn +P JHPs.
Under my side of the bed is a Mossberg 930SPX with TLR-1 weaponlight and Trijicon MS03 Mini-Red dot loaded with Federal 00 FlightControl buckshot.
On my wife's nightstand is her Ruger LCP loaded with 95 grn JHPs.
Under my wife's side of the bed is her Cavalry Arms AR-15 with lightweight barrel, TLR-1 weaponlight and Aimpoint Micro T1.

I hate to thread crap, but does anybody else see the problem with posting your personal home defense plans and weapons location on the open interwebs? While I see the benefit of having others viewpoints so you can better your own, to me it's almost like playing poker with your hand face up on the table. Unbeknownst to many, it's not hard at all to figure out who somebody is on an Internet forum with just a little digging. The Internet is no longer anonymous. My 2 cents...

Ditto, it's one thing to know I have a few guns within 2 feet of me...quite another to grow enough gonads to attempt getting thru the 'unknown' to get them. That's why I was not entirely forthcoming in my disclosures.
