CMP M1 Garand Receiver

I have always heard they are basically the same action. What are the differences?

For starters minor things like the receiver legs, ability to take a magazine, a clip slot for stripper clip feeding, 1/2 INCH SHORTER FOR 7.62 Nato...

The Italians did their best to convert a Garand into a 308 detachable magazine rifle and came up with the BM59

.... but you can build you a very nice GARAND!! Built one up from a Winchester receiver several years ago ....
