Taurus PT145 owners....Toughts (esp on reloads)
I am interested in a small 45 acp and the Tuarus PT145 has csught my eye.
I am looking for expeirences and opinions from Taurus PT145 OWNERS.....Please don't come in here and bash Taurus if you don't or have not owned a PT145......even if your brother in law's cousins son's football coach had a bad one;)
I would like to know from people with first hand knowledge to tell me how it preforms. Is it ammo picky? Have you shot reloads out of it? How does it carry. Any problems.
I will take suggestions though on other good small 45 acp under $400....just see if you can do it by telling what is good about your suggestion...not what is bad about taurus (I really don't want this to be a tuarus bashing thread....unless it was your your are bashing:)
Thanks

I don't have the pt-145 but my everyday carry gun is a pt-140. I could have bought a Glock or XD but chose the 140 because of the thumb safety. I know there will be people who think it was a bad decision and I can understand that but I bought what I wanted and was comfortable with. It has went bang every time I have pulled the trigger and I don't have any complaints with it. It conceals pretty well with shorts and a t-shirt in a IWB holster I picked up at one of the Jackson gun shows. I haven't shot a lot of different ammo out of it but it has never failed to fire with what I have used. No reloads, mostly just Win. white box and my choice of carrry ammo is a jacketed hollow point.

I had a pt145 stainless. Bought it from my Grandfather. I shot plenty of FMJ through it with no issue, and I liked the trigger pull better than most double action autos. I tried some remington plane jane hollow points that hung up on the feed ramp. So, try a hollow point with rounded profile and small cavity. It did have a GREAT trigger though.

I've had a pt145 for several years now. Mine is a second generation double action only. I trust the gun fully. It eats everything I feed it. I've shot well over 1000 rds I expect. I've only had one single problem one time. I had a stovepipe. Honesly that is the only single time it ever hiccuped at all. I've shot tons of WWB, rangers, xtp's, reloaded xtp's, hydrashocks and several others. I love mine. On a sidenote, I recently purchased a crossbreed supertuck deluxe horsehide holster off a guy on this forum for my pt145. For whatever reason, it's not for me, so I'll give somebody a good price on it if they want it.

I have the PT145 Pro . I carry full time and found that this handgun carries very well in the large type watch pockets on jeans. I am in a back brace now and carry it under the arm in the brace without holster. This has been a very good carry for me. If it gets a little heavy I just drop the load to half a mag. I have carried in the waist band no holster with no trouble. Back to the jeans I only buy ones with the big watch pockets just for carry.

Kahr CW45 Great ergonomics, very reliable, well made. I like Taurus too but if you would have asked about a Kahr you probably would have to tell people not to bash it. To me that means it will be more valuable if you decide you want to sell it down the line. Would not be good for pocket carry though. The PM45 would be awesome but they are in the 650 range but with Kahr making a CM line of 9s and 40s maybe there is a CM45 in the future. I might need to get one of those

I wouldn't think twice about buying a Taurus. Although I don't have the PT145, I do have the PT1911 that I carry daily. I've put 500-600 rounds thru it easily, HP & FMJ. A lot of folks bash any Taurus semi auto but mine has worked like a charm....
