Help.. Dillion SD wont flare the brass
At first the press was putting a great bell/flare on each case, but not the flare is completely gone. I have adjusted teh station (#2) down as far as I can.. and still nothing. Now I and shaving lead ( and ALOX) off the bullet at stage #3.
I have emailed Dillion and they email back but they want me call during work hours, but otherwise have offerd no suggestions.
I and using .38 brass and Beladrans 148gr bullets.

It appears the powder measure not secured properly and had slid up on the collar sleeve. I removed and re-installed the powder measure. This gave me a very slight bell for about 15 rounds and now I am back to zero bell again.
The powder die is has it has been, screwed down fully.

P... i got your voice mail but unless you called from a 1800 number or a "id blocked" number i never saw you call??( i hate cellular south!)
ok picture time

im gonna "assume" the SD has the same powder through system the 550 has. See the object my finger is pointing at? i think its called the through expander maybe? if you push it from the bottom does it move any? mine has maybe a 1/4-1/8th of play in it then bottoms out. If not you need to take the powder/expander apart because it might not be together right. the die should not be all the way down.. with a case in and the handle all the way down you should move the die down untill you fill it slide of the expander and it will reach a "Y" part which is what flares the case.. return the handle up and screw the die in one full turn. that should get you primo flare..

I too think your powder through expander die is not set correctly. The powder measure itself stops the sliding expander at a point that still allows the brass case to travel up a little more to flare the case mouth.
You getting good flares and then little or no flares sounds like you are not locking down the powder measure and/or die body well enough....

I kept playing with it .. and it turns out you are correct. The powder measure was not fully seated on die. Thus when the locking part was put in place, it could not prevent the entire powder measure from working it's way up during use. After two more attempts to secure it, I finally got it to sit down firmly on the die, and was able to lock it into place... then of course... I had too much flare and had to disassemble and correct it all over again.
Thanks all for the advice and help... Beladran I called you on my skype so I could do a hands free call. Actually I even called twice.
