Has anyone had a good Taurus PT22?
I noticed Academy has them maked down to $200, but it's difficult to find any good reports on them. That said, there are a few and they swear by theirs. Don't really need one, but I have always been curious about them and wouldn't mind having one for a Saturday night special price. Aren't they some sort of Colt copy? If so, was the Colt worth anything? I've seen a few advertised for sale here, but they didn't provide a lot of detail about them. Just wondering if anyone had a good one and what it took to get it there. Since Academy will ship them off for repair on their dime, it's not a huge risk, but I'd rather not have to send it off multiple times. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

They are a copy of the Beretta Bobcat, I've got 2 of the Berettas, nice little pocket pistols. I've never seen a Colt with tip up barrel, did they ever make one?
I would go with a Beretta over a Taurus, there are a couple of them new in the box on gunbroker with buy it now price of $210.

Bubba, is your Bobcat double action? I have a Beretta Jetfire I bought before they made inexpensive pocket pistols back in the late 70's. It is single action.
Rick, never had much luck with Taurus auto's myself. Not to say they are bad, just the one's I had were. I swear by their revolvers though.

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll skip the Taurus.

I had one several years ago. It was decent, but nothing to write home about. The trigger pull was horrible, but it went bang every time. I eventually traded it for a Ruger Single Six.
