nothing wrote:so... back to the original topic of how my new shadow makes me look really awesome while losing matches and shooting terribly. I managed to get out to turcotte and shoot 300 rounds through it and was really pleased. Aside from getting used to a long double action pull it grouped really well. While I prefer the short crisp 3# pull of my Springer Precision tuned XD, the CZ just points more naturally. I also like the extra weight. It's definitely a well made pistol. I don't think I've ever had a pistol that didn't rattle and shake until now.
The DA pull is around 6.2# and the single action is 3.12. When I first got it it was around 8# in DA, but a removed a few coils from the mainspring and got it down to 6#. It ran federal primers perfectly. When I get a few more spare springs I'm going to tweak the trigger return spring and mess with the mainspring a little more to see if I can get it down to 5.5/2.5.
Was this a CZ Custom Shop trigger job, or did you order it without the work? There's a little more than just cutting the main spring down.
My 2008 model has 75 thousand plus thru it. The double action is 6 & 1/2, with the single at about 2 & 1/2. It breaks any primer, every time. The key on the Shadow trigger is smooth....not light.
Yours will become smoother as you shoot, but I wouldn't try and go any lighter with the springs. My friend Matt Mink should be coming in town soon. He works on these things and is sponsored by CZ. You should let him do a trigger job on it if he's in town long enough.
Re: New CZ Shadow
Also, there are better grips even though the wood ones are pretty.
You can also change the recoil spring (lighter) out so the gun handles better, and the front sight on those things are terrible. I have mine custom made.
You will need a parts replacement kit. CZ Custom sells them. Things to watch out for round count wise are:
Trigger return spring-25 k rounds
Slide stop-25 k rounds
Extractor-25k rounds
Firing pins- 35k rounds
Rear sight- yes, I said rear sight....they can break at any time but 35k is a good number
Mag springs- change out every other year
Recoil spring twice a year.

Re: New CZ Shadow
Oh, and change out the thumb safeties to standard SP-01 type , because the ones that come on it really suck.
Otherwise, congrats on your purdy, neato pistol.

Re: New CZ Shadow
Don't forget extractor springs as well. Cz custom sells some extra power extractor springs that are supposed to last longer.

Re: New CZ Shadow
Cliff, I spoke with the custom shop before I ordered the pistol and they told me it already has a trigger job done. They could further reduce the pull for another $100. I'm was going to let them do the extra work, but since I ordered the pistol the CZ-USA's military discount program it shipped straight from KS instead of AZ.
I think Matt Mink could probably do a better trigger job and I like to let him look at it and see what else he can do.
It already came with the 11lbs recoil spring and an extended firing pin. I'll be ordering the thin aluminum grips for it with the grip tape inserts. Other than that you're the first one I've heard mention the safety so I'll look into that too. Right now I'm just waiting on the custom shop to get the grips and 13# mainsprings back in stock.
