Re: Upon Further Review...
Legally owning a handgun before being 21 is possible in Mississippi. You have to be 18 years old and have your Parent or Guardian give it to you. Of course, this puts a LOT of liability on your Parent or Guardian.
The laws of the State of Mississippi apply to you equally, the same way as if you were 21 years old.

Thanks Doug. I agree. it is possible to do so legally, but there are lots of risks. I have kind of convinced myself out of it. I know i would be responsible, but there are so many variables out of my control.
I dont know.
I am considering a ruger mark III or preferably mark II to start with when I get to that point.
What do you feel is the best high quality .22 custom or semi-custom .22 pistol?
What do you feel is the best high quality semi custom 1911? (In Your Opinion)
I also have considered a 1911 .22 pistol. It would cure both itches. I do not know who makes the most reliable and accurate one. Whats yalls opinion on this question?

The Ruger is the way to go. I prefer the military style 1911 such as the Springfield 1911 A1 style. Unless you are going to shoot bullseye pistol matches, accurizing a 1911 can make it less dependable. I would not use my accurized 1911 as a self defense handgun.

I'm partial to the Browning Buckmark .22lr. I got one, at my request, as a graduation present from high school. From what I gather a Ruger Mark II (never hears of a Mark III before it's mention in this thread) would be about as good and prolly more cost efective. I personally would get as good as I could find cheap and save the rest for whatever defense pistol you decide on, later.
A fancy .22 could never make a defensive weapon. A fancy 9mm, .40 or .45 defensive weapon can always punch holes in paper.

Check out Wilson Combat on the internet - then call a customer rep - they will take whatever time you need. I have fired thousands of rounds through mine ove a five year time span without a malfunction of any kind. I can't say the same thing about any of my Kimbers - they need re-breaking in every year. Good luck on your search.

Learn the basics, and go from there.
Was kinda thinking the same thing myself....plus it's bound to be higher quality than most of the other .22 1911s out there(even though it's not quite a 1911)
