Keltec Sub 2k

Post by yroc on Thu Sep 01, 2011 8:31 pm

I picked up one these while I was out yesterday. Heard of them, never seen one in a store before, so I grabbed it. Who all has one and do you like it ? I have looked at several accessories including a bolt buffer. Which accessories do you recommend?

First thing i did on mine(.40) was a front grip, that made it a different weapon to me... much easier to control. .40 is pretty snappy out of one. A bolt buffer is on my to do list, but i dont shoot mine a whole lot so i have not done it yet. I am making my own. I was going to make a scope mount, but i dont feel its necessary now. I would like the accessory forend keltec makes, but it isnt worth $100 to me... Ill make one one day from an ar forend.

Captain o3, 'neck and sidroski and maybe shoeshooter shot mine and all immediately wanted one... 'neck was calling dealers from the range. Its a fun, almost addictive gun.

The little picotanny rails are ok for a forward grip is cool. Can't fold it in half with a forward grip. Houge slip on for bang bang grips are nice also, way less than $10. I would look hard at some Asian (Korean?) 33 round mags. I think glock sells some also but don't know the price. A lot of people don't like CDNN Investments but I never had a trouble on anything I ordered. Check around but they had some the best prices on glock mags also. I think the people who don't like them are on their "shifty list".

You'll enjoy your S2k. I had one for a while and as usual was impressed with what Kel Tec was able to do for the price. It seems to be the best solution available for those who are looking for a carbine that accepts common pistol mags.

The most practical upgrade would probably be a rail for attaching some good metal sights. The factory sights seem a little questionable.

What kind of range and accuracy do you get with one of these?

Iron sights and short barrel and pistol round suggest fairly inaccurate out past about 30 yards or so.

I have considered buying one but have never read a test report on them.

On Thursday I picked up the Sub 2000 in 9mm Glock. Have not fired it yet but hope to before the weekend is out, Have heard nothing but good thinks but it was a royal pain finding one within the state. I bought mine at Double Barrel in Olive Branch. I think they still have a .40 in stock. I', planning on a folding foregrip as well, as soon as I have the time and discretionary funds.

They are running retail between $340-360 depending where you find them. Scarcity is running up the price. On Gunbroker I've seen them going at up to $450.

What is the difference in the Glock 19 model versus Glock 17 model? I'm assuming just a shorter grip to allow the 15 round G19 mags to fit. I'm gonna have to find one of these things in G19 config.

That's what mine was but I had to pay $20 shipping and $10 FFL (woulda been about what I paid in tax local). Guy was out of Miami on Gunbroker. Been a while, FFL guy went to $20.

I picked one up a month or so ago. Been looking for a 9m glock version for awhile so snagged it as soon as I found it. I absolutely love it, for what it is. Don't expect to replace your AR with it, but that's not what its for. Its the ONLY rifle I know of that folds up small enough to fit under a car seat or in a regular backpack, and can be unfolded, loaded, and ready to use in about 2 seconds. I personally think that adding junk to it takes away from what it is designed for. Makes it more bulky or even unfoldable. If I were gonna add anything, it might be a rail for mounting a small light. Accuracy is good enough. No problem holding a four inch group at 50 yds. Good center mass shots at 100 are no problem either. Velocity is supersonic. Not sure exactly how fast cause I haven't shot it over my chrono, but you can definitely hear the crack. But its perfect if you want something light, compact, easy to conceal, and that can take the same mags as your handgun and put a little more thump on something at a longer range.

I think the 19 model is just a 17 model which they chopped down at the factory. Pretty sure you can do the same thing yourself.

Yep, If I ever run across one in G17 or 19 I'm getting it. I'm wondering, what's a fair price OTD for a Sub 2K? $400?
