CANTON Ohio cop now suffers PTSD!! (Right!)

Medical condition my foot!

CANTON —
A disciplinary hearing for Patrolman Daniel Harless has been postponed until Dec. 1 at the request of the union, which says the officer has been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

The Police Department’s internal affairs division recently completed an investigation into Harless’ behavior in three police cruiser videos and found he violated three department rules in each traffic stop.

In the most recent video, recorded during a traffic stop in June, Harless is shown berating a man pulled over on Newton Avenue NW at about 1:30 a.m.

After discovering the Brewster man was armed and had a concealed carry permit, Harless became enraged and told the man he should execute him for being a stupid idiot.

Safety Director Thomas Ream denied the Canton Police Patrolmen’s Association’s request for an indefinite extension.

“While I concur that an extension would be appropriate, to make it indefinite would not serve the city’s best interests,” Ream wrote in a letter to Bill Adams, president of the Canton Police Patrolmen’s Association.

The disciplinary hearing had been scheduled for Sept. 7. Ream said he was granting a 90-day extension to allow for further treatment of Harless’ medical condition.

In a letter Thursday to Ream, Adams wrote that due to the medical condition, Harless would not be able to assist in his defense or participate in the September hearing.

I think we should all write the Canton Police Patrolmen’s Association and express our concern over their defense of this scumbag ... This what I hate about Unions -- and this is not Union bashing ... I served as a local Union President for about 10 years and I know the good they do; however, when a member is this far out of line, they need to use some common sense ....

PTSD? He'll be living off the taxpayers for a while. I can hear Nero's violen a little more clearly as the days go on.

Wow, what a "convenient" diagnosis, now that the videos have all gone public. The PD will probably try and use it to shield themselves from liability as well. roll eyes

I'd say he SHOULD be suffering PTSD for the beating he deserved in response to his horrible behavior!!!

And the beat goes on. See link below. I am going up to Canton OH for a class reunion in a couple weeks and will be interested to hear what *really* has been going on.

http://www.cantonrep.com/news/x549434878/Harless-hearing-postponed-police-union-cites-stress

Such events include combat or military exposure; child sexual and physical abuse; terrorist attacks; sexual or physical assault; serious accidents such as a car crash; and natural disasters, including a fire, tornado, hurricane, flood or earthquake.

Symptoms can make it hard for an individual to continue with daily activities, according to the center for PTSD.

Now many of us have been through such horrific situations, but manage to not "catch" PTSD ( Wink 'cause I know you don't "catch" PTSD). Because of US Navy transfers we have been through earthquakes, a serious car accident, and my husband "combat and military exposure" and personally myself Hurricane Katrina as well as parental abandonment as a child, which is a combination of the aforementioned PTSD situations and do not resort to using these reasons for our actions. Because of my experience with Katrina I am apprehensive of severe storms, but I don't berate people or treat them badly.

For every "problem" certain types of people or their attorneys will find an excuse.

Oh please, please, please let him be the survivor of a botched operation to remove one cancerous testicle that resulted in him being a nutless wonder terrified of squeaky red noses and rainbow wigs due to the doctor's off-color humor or part-time job.

Harless discipline hearing postponed
http://www.cantonrep.com/news/x1157078557/Harless-discipline-hearing-postponed

CANTON —

A disciplinary hearing for Daniel Harless, the police officer involved in a controversial traffic stop, has been rescheduled for Dec. 15.

Meanwhile, Harless remains on paid medical leave even after running out of sick days. Other officers donated part of their sick time, which is permitted under the union contract, said Safety Director Thomas Ream.

Ream said he approved the donations of sick time to Harless, which started less than two weeks ago.

The contract clause has existed for “quite a while,” he said, noting that officers have donated time off in the past to an officer who has a serious and extended illness.

Earlier this year, the Police Department’s internal affairs division completed an investigation into Harless’ behavior during three separate traffic stops — each captured on police cruiser video.

In a June 8 stop, video footage shows Harless berating a man he pulled over around 1:30 a.m. on Newton Avenue NW.

Internal affairs investigators accuse Harless of violating Police Department rules and regulations for cooperation with the public, deportment and treatment of persons in custody.Harless could be suspended or fired, Ream said.

Ream said a hearing set for today was rescheduled because he had a scheduling conflict.

The case stemming from the June traffic stop gained widespread attention after Ohioans for Concealed Carry posted the police cruiser video of Harless threatening William E. Bartlett during the arrest.

In early November, a judge dismissed a concealed carry charge against Bartlett resulting from the traffic stop.

This is the second time Harless’ disciplinary hearing has been postponed.

Late last summer, the Canton Police Patrolmen’s Association asked for an indefinite extension of the disciplinary hearing.

In a previous letter to Ream, the union president had said due to post-traumatic stress disorder, Harless could not assist in his defense or participate in the hearing.

I feel it should be a conflict of interest for Public employees to belong to a union.

I totally agree.

In Detroit a local reporter up there went out to the plant where they are assembling tanks and other war machinery for our soldiers. During the employees breaks and at lunch time, the reporter taped the employees in the parking lot smoking marijuana and drinking beer and liquor.

When the reporter confronted the Democrat US Congress Carl Levin (who has been in office for decades) was not concerned about it.

The company did put the employees on suspension pending a final disposition.

Yep, these guys who were suspended belong to and are represented by a UNION!

The company handbook supports a random drug testing policy!

OH, REALLY!
