Kel Tec Sub 2000 in 9mm

Post by Evil Zim on Fri Sep 02, 2011 5:23 pm

I picked up one of these in North Mississippi yesterday and if there is a break in the weather, I'll be trying it out this weekend. This is the first Kel Tec I've had. Does anyone have any experience with shooting reloads in this or any other Kel Tec?

Glad you finally found one!

I need to break mine out of the safe. Been hiding in there all folded up...

Post that pic of your's along with 192 rounds loaded in mags in a PC bag. I'd like to see it again myself.

FYI: Double Barrel Guns in Olive Branch said they had another one in .40 when I picked up mine.

You asked about reloads in the S2k:

Mine would chew threw my standard Glock food. It was ment to complement my 9mm Glocks so a standard load was important. It liked everything I put in it but here's my favorite recipe. 124gr hornady xtp, 5.5gr power pistol, 1.07 oal, mixed cases.

Weather and yard work allowing, I got out to Turcotte on Sunday and tried out the Kel Tec. Having cleaned and oiled it before heading out, I started out with a 10 shot magazine of factory loads, which fed without a hitch. I then tried out some of my reloads (124 grain slug) in the 10 shot magazine and eventually up to emptying full loads out of a thirty shot Glock magazine. Not a jam or problem in the bunch. A lot of fun to shoot but a pretty basic weapon. A sort of updated version of a WWII grease gun. Pretty accurate considering the fairly cheesy front sight. I will probably throw something better on in the near future.

Was halfway looking for one at the Jackson show last Saturday. Saw a couple .40's, and one 9MM. They wanted $350 for the 9. Needless to say, I didn't bite.
