pawn shop rescue 686-6

Post by Beladran on Sat Sep 03, 2011 10:47 am

since me deal fell through on the other revo i still had a itch that needed scratching! i got this baby for a good price and she is a seven shot = ) bore is clean and rifling is sharp as the day it left the factory. there is a couple light pitted spots on the top strap but nothing major. Now to just drop a couple hundred on moon clip cutting and this is on its way to being a icore gun = )

Just need to add "the plug" and it'll be ready!

well the $200 package gets the cutting done, 20 moonclips, a loader, and a unloader.

I'm claiming ignorance here. But a moon clip cut. Is the cylinder being recessed so the head spacing is maintained with the use of moon clips?

I would think that is a good assumption.

You don't have to moon clip it to play in icore. They have a retro division for the speed loaders. I think that using moon clips puts you in the limited division where the 8 shot guns rule the roost.

Nice 686 btw.

Those that have the mill and skills set the price....... But even $100 for just the milling seems high for 10 minutes work...................

well ladies and gents..
this pistola is going to Bob Cogan at Accurate Plating and Weaponry, for a little TLC.
the biggest thing is its going to be refinished, the entire gun is going to be black chromed with the cylinder a matt silver. I have been wanting to try out his black chrome every since i could remember. Its not high gloss like chrome and its not really matt, almost a matt semi gloss?? Any how its not as hard as chrome or black t so i aint gonna be using it to stir concrete or use it as a door stop. hopefully in 4-6 weeks it will be back to me = )

Sooo jealous...

Retro... not enough of us 6-shooters. Using a speed loader and only 6 shots is a killer... well that and CLiff and the gang are just plain good at it.

NRA action pistol has taught me the value of making your shots count = )

You really need to throw that slab side barrel on that DW and come shoot with us next weekend!

Educate the uneducated. What is involved in the timing and such going from 7 to 6 rounds?
That's a good looking pistol, I got colts, smiths, rugers and some mutts but for the money you can't beat a 686.
Daughter told me the fella she'd been dating had some jamamatic that would shuck the mag after about 4 shots. After all the expenses involved in letting him take up the payments on her, I was tight. Got him a Taurus 66 with a 4 inch barrel. Wish I could have bought him a Smith but I was tapped out and wanted to see if true love would last. They been together 4-5 years so I guess I'll take him pistol shopping on his next birthday.
No man should be without a 4" 357. When you see him coming, he ain't wanting to talk, he heading to kill ya if you don't kill him first.
Daughter's got a Colt snubby 6 shot .38 she "borrowed" from me. I get to look at it when I go over. Oh well, she's competent with it and with 2 grandbabies, I'd buy her a Glock 18 if I could find one.

Beladran, waiting for the pic's of this new finish scheme. Sounds wicked. Not bad for a "pawn shop rescue".
