I have the LE version of this, called the SP 2009. I like it, but I haven't put many rounds through it. I'm not as accurate with it as I am with my Berettas. Oddly, I did have pretty good luck with a Sig P226 I tried. Maybe I just have an allergy to polymer frames or something.

What happened to the 3rd Gen Smith...or the RIA 9MM...or anything made of steel???
Well, you're right...at least it ain't a Glock.

I'm with shoeshooter, I buy weapons made of iron and steel. Maybe one with an aluminum frame. SIG P225.

You can't go wrong with a Sig. Out of the box accuracy and reliability. I love my 220, 228, 226, and 230.

Once again, us Glock owners prefer to call it "advanced synthetic polymers".

One of the things I like about Glocks and Sigs is the fact that they don't have manual safeties. A manual safety that you have extensive training on is great but if you have several weapons a DOAish model like these removes learning the safety as an obstacle. It also alleviates the need for ambidextrous safeties.
I like "plastic" pistols. They're lighter and hence, IMHO, better for carrying. "Plastic" won't rust but I once saw a Glock that someone's dog got a hold of...

Despite my frequently stated aversion to "plastic", both of your points have merit. I much prefer DAO for my carry gun. This can be done without plastic, as my oft-carried S & W 3953 proves. That being said, 9 out of 10 days there is a Taurus .380 in my pocket while the metal SIG .380 stays home. Mostly it's because the Taurus does not have a manual safety (which this SIG does), and partly because plastic is lighter. Every platform has it's place. Aesthetically, however, I will take traditional materials any day. Some like blondes, some prefer redheads.
Mostly I just like giving BubbaT a hard time.

A blue 1911 with rosewood grips would prolly be the most attractive weapon in this class IMHO.
A Sig (non pro) would be my personal fav but the polymers seem to be the best bang for the buck and lighter.

I also prefer good, old-fashioned metal. I'm not very accurate with my Sig Pro, and I can't hit the broad side of a barn with most Glocks I have tried. I can't explain it.
