reloading 6.5x284
hello guys, been out of loop for some time ,health issues, im reloading 6.5 x 284 using lapua brass ,when i fire the round my brass is very hard to eject ? this barrel is a kreiger spiral fluted on a savage 111 action right now it will shoot a very tight .50 at 100yrds ,i am quite pleased with that group, i load 56grs. of vhita vuori n560 ,fed 210 lr. primers. do i have a problem or should i keep on shooting ?

Because of the hard ejection, it sounds as if you may be pushing the upper limit of pressure . You may be approaching the upper end FOR YOUR CHAMBER. I say this because a 6.5x284 is a custom chamber and it may be cut tight. You might look for other pressure signs. I don't know what the recommended max charge is but each gun is a world unto itself. Better safe than sorry. Just my $0.02 worth.

Tend to agree with doggoner .... are you full length sizing or just neck sizing? What does the spent primers look like?

Check your case expansion at the web (just ahead of the rim). Anything over .003" is very much on the warm side. Reduce the load by .5 grains and see if the problem still exists.

I am reloading another batch this time i will load 55.5 grs. VV so far no pressure signs ,i do tend to agree about hot loading 57 grs . was max for this load, gonna go slow and see where it leads me, im having fun just poppin away ,still shoots very good groups . thanks for the info ,keep it commin boys.

I finally found the problem , the shell holder ,i changed it and it loads perfect ,also i came down to 55.7 Vita Vou. n560
