comp rifle choices
The two I'm looking at are the Ruger K77/22-VBZ vs. Savage Mark II BV I'm also open to other suggestions if they are under the $800 mark I want a bolt gun with wood stock for the weight it adds I really am not looking for a synthetic stock or a semi or lever gun but if you have any other choices that fit the description I'm looking for that I may not have thought of please let me know so I can check them out thanks.

Id say grab the savage, i love my mark II. Mines scary accurate with cheap cci standard velocity stuff, have to try out some match stuff one day.

I would stick with savage in the 22. I had the TR and it was a great and accurate rifle.

Re: comp rifle choices
Ordered the Savage from Great Southern and my scope from CTD today. Hope I made the right choice in scope
. I got the Tasco Target Rifle Scope 10-40x50 Crosshair Reticle, Matte 140.01 plus s&h (seems like a decent setup). Now I've gotta get my bi-pod or shooting rest bags and do some ammo testing when I get the gun and get the scope mounted.

You'll be happy with the savage. Try some SK standard+.

... yes -- you should be happy with the Savage!! Lot of folks shoot them and seem to be very loyal to the brand ...

Ok thanks I'll try it and see how it works out. Now does anyone happen to have any experience with the scope I mentioned? I bought it from ctd I found the most powerful scope for the least cash because I didn't want to clean out the bank to start out just getting set up, but I'm hoping I got at the very least a "decent" scope.
