This is why I have no desire for a Glock, buy American, we make the best weapons.

Do we really? Seems our gun manufacturers have more than their fair share of recalls and problems. A couple of fine American companies seem to use their customers as test dummies. Apparently Glock had some problems with this particular gun, but I fail to see any fault with thier efforts to rectify things. While I might agree that Glocks are a little overpriced, it's difficult to fault a gun that always does exactly what it's supposed to with very little fanfare and almost no problems at all. There's a reason so many of them get sold at such a premium price. Also, as a group, they're one of the easiest brands to resell. Glocks sell quick around here, so I'd have to say a lot of folks must like them.Smile

Are they supposed to explode? they do that well. I don't trust anything without a fully supported chamber. I like revolvers and 1911s. thumbs up It's no wonder this country's economy is failing.....sorry for the hi jacked thread.

I agree, however that's not always the case with all S&W firearms. They're one of the companies I was referring to that seem to like using customers to shake down their new products. And, I won't even waste time talking about Ruger, however I will say both company's customer services are stellar. That said, I still like S&W and Ruger firearms. I've owned several of each and have been lucky with mine not needing to be sent back, but a lot of others haven't been so lucky.

Can't speak for Glock blowing up, because I've never had one do it, but, no, I don't think they're supposed to.Smile Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Glock fanboy, but I have owned a bunch of them and found very little to fault them with other than their inflated price. I presently own a Glock 26 and an M&P9c. If asked which was the better/more refined gun, I'd have to say the M&P was, however if my life was on the line, I'm afraid I'd grab my Glock. Don't have anything other than past experiences to base that on, since neither gun has ever failed to do exactly what it was supposed to, but I know for certain the Glock is gonna go bang when I pull the trigger and I haven't quite built that level of confidence with the M&P yet. That said, thankfully there is a wide variety of good quality semi-autos out there and Glock just happens to be one of them, nothing more, nothing less. Bad mouthing them just for kicks doesn't have much of an effect on their popularity. There will always be plenty of bashers and fanboys.Smile

I challenge all Colt and S&W owners to take your prize back to the factory and see if they will rebuild it/upgrade it to the latest specs while you wait. I only wish I could send my older Smiths back to the factory and get the same service as when I took my first generation Glock back to the factory for a check up.

YMMV

They all have a place..but I never received the customer service that I have enjoyed from Glock.

Bought a Glock 34. Sent it to Glock in GA. They replaced about all the springs and such, all it cost me was shipping. Can't beat that.

Glock has one caliber (.40) that has anomalies. A few of of them went boom and they went back to the design board and issued a complete new generation. Just like any new design, there are some tweaks needed and they were stand up enough to offer the fix for free.
You may have a preference for all steel guns. You may have a preference for revolvers. That's cool. But you aren't going to get anywhere bashing Glock as a company.

I'd let them replace it but just because there is a recall doesn't neccissarily mean anything is wrong with yours or even with most of the ones in the recall. It just that some in the same production range had a defect. I find it unlikely that Glock makes their own springs anyway. So, most likely, it's a suppler issue. It happens to every manufactuer of any complex product. It's even possible (although unlikely) that the spring supplier in question is a U.S. company as Glocks sold in the U.S. are assembled in Georgia.

The Gen 4 recoil spring system was awful. Good the company is replacing them.

I have gotten away from Glock as a competition gun favoring a CZ SP-01 Shadow because of the added weight and steel frame. Also, the trigger is much better than what a Glock can ever be.

Having said that, my oldest Glock (round count wise) is a Gen 2. (1993 model). It has 175 thousand rounds thru it, and the only thing that ever broken on it is the slide stop spring...that's it.

I can easily take down pepper poppers at 100 yards with that gun. I paid $325 for it new in the box, don't know what more I could ask for.

Thanks 9c, without this post I might've never knew! I haven't had much trouble, but will replace anyway, process appears pretty simple.
