More Improvements - Magnolia R&PC

Post by captain-03 on Thu Sep 08, 2011 4:55 pm

Well, Tom Sutton, Odie, Will Stephens, and I tackled the job of inserting 2" PVC pipe in the ground at the 100Yrd line on the 100/200/300 Center Range. Now set-up for the 22 F-Class and M1 Carbine Matches should go quickly!! Enough for 20 target stands ....

While we had the machinery on site, we decided to do something with the gongs at 200 and 300yrds that were just sitting on the ground -- they needed to be raised ... Started at the 200yrd line:

Then to the 300 yrd line --- Finished up these this afternoon. Would like to give a special thanks to Will for providing the railroad iron and welding the gongs ...

How far apart the holes or you think a couple slabs of wood will stand up well with no braces?
Looks like some good work, ya'll were out for precision with the level and tape measures. Well done!

Great job, Thank you to all. Great idea putting the PVC in the ground, should save a lot of setup time.

WOW...... You guys have been BUSY.... Looks like a job WELL DONE. Beautiful weather for the projects.

Given enough time (and an empty range) some Magnolia members can destroy ANYTHING........... However, those gongs look like they will give the F-UPS a run for their money..... Smile

Will and I christened them this afternoon. He did an outstanding job welding rebar to the back of the gongs so they slide down ontop of the donated railroad iron. One of the 300y gongs is an inch and a half thick! Whoever left the small red caldwell spinning target at 300 - lets just say it didn't hold uP as well as the iron

Hope to have the new stands built today ... if not, we may have to use the old ones for tomorrow's carbine match ...

The old stands will work fine for the Carbine targets (SR1) but I'm not so sure about the AK/SKS targets (SR42 & SR5). I think they will work just fine if we end up using them.

I did my first full 'tour' of the range in quite a while this week...just driving around after shooting on the South 40 and West 25... thumbs up to all the work and I say Captain-03 those benches you and the gang worked on make a great improvement also and dressed up the joint. Wish I could say I was involved but I'll just have to add my thanks for the work...
