Need Info from Glock Gurus................
I have gun and mag questions........................

What Gen is this G-21? I don't think it is Gen 4. Doesn't have a rail on the frame.

The mag on left came with the G-21. The mag on right was received this week from Midway. I ordered a GLOCK mag, not the Korean copy.
In the following pictures the "old" mag is on the left and the "new" mag on the right.......

Has Glock changed their G-21 mags....??? The new mags do drop much better when fully loaded.
Thanks in advance for your input..............

I believe that is a Gen 1 maybe 2 Glock and I'm pretty sure thats just a newer design of the original factory mag.

New mag has the Ambi cut for the new mag release. It can be swiched on the new Glocks to either side.

That's correct on the mags. The gun is a Gen 2. I sold one just like it recently. I've still got several mags if you're interested.

I would say Gen 2. I have a 19 that does not have the rail and its a Gen 2. I have the 2 orginal 15 rd mags that are not the fall free mags.

Re: Need Info from Glock Gurus................
I believe the gun is Gen 2. As I understand, only 17's and a very few 19's were part of Gen 1 (and I guess the 18's?). The Gen 3's have finger grooves on the front of the grip, making this a Gen 2. The Wikipedia article has pictures of the different generations for comparison.
This thread, specifically the third post, has pretty much everything there is to know about Glock magazine variations.

Their right on with the gen2. As fare as the mags the new one is a drop free and the old is not. The old mag will only drop free once it's almost empty.

You can tell the drop free mags from the non drop free by the notch in the mags. In the picture of the back of the mags look at the notch at the top, one is u shaped and the other is more of a square .

Re: Need Info from Glock Gurus................
any of you know what the little 2 means down by Glock and a little above austria on the new mag?
Also they are all right on. I have a Gen 1 17 and its handle is as smooth as a babies but. No front checkering. I'm thinking about stipling it just to give it a go. If I screw it up I'll get an aftermarket metal frame.

I read a suggestion somewhere to practice stippling on magazine base plates if you've never done it before. That way if you screw up, it's cheap and easy to fix.

I should have a friend copy that Glock DVD and should have it on your way Monday. On clearance so you get what you pay for.

Sid is that DVD worth having? If so I'd send you a couple bucks for a copy too.
