Oh Boy! Rusted guns and a truckload of highpoints.
Don't think they'll be anything worth buying.

I tried to call the police chief at VPD with no success.

I imagine your right. Most of that stuff is probably scrap metal at best. You'd have to think with nearly 2000 guns there would have to be something there worth having though.

I imagine anything decent will be included in the 700 they are trading in. Don't think Glock or S & W or whomever would be interested in the Lorcins and Jennings. Long guns might be a different story.

I agree Steve. I imagine anything worth the has been cherry picked by PD, FD and other city workers. I hate to see guns cut up but I wonder if they were confiscated from crime scenes, what makes V'burg think they won't used again.

Just an FYI, the standard issue for VPD for years has been the Beretta 92. Officers at VPD (at least when I was working with them) were allowed to carry whatever they wanted as long as the qualified with it. I know for a fact that some of those Beretta’s are 15+ years old, although I have no idea if they are selling any of those.

Thanks NRA Guy. The missing serial number part is interesting. I wonder if VPD realizes they could be selling contraban items. The ATF doesn't really have a sence of humor about that stuff. Even though this is probably a huge waste of time I can't help but be a little interested.

I know when KY dept of fish and wildlife would sell a bunch at auction each year, and you wouldn't believe the decent guns that were in the mix. I couldn't help to be interested myself when I saw this. Like you said Caleb, there has to be a handful worth saving in the 700+ firearms.
