Questions about a Springfield 1911 V-16 Long Slide
Been helping my cousin pick out his first gun, went to about 7 or 8 shops today and handled a lot of guns. His choice is a 1911, looked at many and he has settled on one he really wants. Its a Springfield 1911 V-16 Long Slide in .45 Super. All the reviews we found were favorable but old. So does anyone on here own one and what is your opinion?
For the ammo, the cheapest .45 Super we have been able to find is online and thats Federal at over a buck a round. Anyone know where to get cheaper .45 super?
The price on the gun is $800. It is in 95% + condition, looks like it never been fired. Any opinions on value?
All comments appreciated.
Thanks

Is the caliber actually marked 45 Super? I imagine one could buy it and change the mainspring and shoot 45 ACP. Super brass is simply thicker at the web to help prevent the case head from blowing in the unsupported portion of the 1911 barrel.
