Missing 556 at Bragg

Post by jbwonfire on Sat Sep 10, 2011 6:47 am

Has anyone seen the news about 14,000 rounds of 556 ammo has gone missing from Ft. Bragg? They think it was taken at night according to the article I read. It was from the 82nd Airborne's stockpile. Man, whats this world coming to! What???

Sadly there have always been a small number of people who will steal from their fellow soldiers for the almighty dollar ( black market). Scum in the lowest part of the pond. I hope they catch the responsible party, and they get a few years looking thru bars before their dishonorable discharge.

Probably used an Army forklift to load it.

I predict they will find the thieves.

But if the "stolen" ammunition is used by, say, some Libyan rebels or some similar organization, doesn't this theft story provide what is commonly called "plausible deniability" ?

Ever seen the John Wayne movie Green Berets? Ever read any of Richard Marcinko's first book? Both of those units "liberated" from other units. I know on of those stories is fiction, but 5 bucks says another branch/unit of the military liberated it. LOL

At least one brigade of the 82nd is in Iraq that I know for sure. Not sure ot where the other two are. Missing firearms and weapons is a tremendous situation. It'll be a hell of a hunt, I can imagine the fella's that stole it will regret what they did when all is through. Ever seen hard labor sentences? Busting concrete with 8 lb. hammers didn't look like no fun.
