yard sale find

Post by 59beemer on Tue Sep 13, 2011 3:13 pm

I am not in Mississippi, but in Tennessee,I hope that is okay.I went to a yard sale with my wife last Friday and happened to run up on several rim fire single shot bolt action rifles. Was hopeing someone can give me an idea of age and value if any,the man I bought them from said they had not been out of the closet in 30-40 years.Included were a Winchester Youth [short] 67A,a Remington 514 with the barrel stamped KE [I think stands for May 1936],another Remington 514 with a serial number, and a J C Higgins [Sears & Roebuck] model 10318.All are in very good shape [I think anyway, for the age]Also in that lot was a Reminton 16 guage Wingmaster 870 [barrel stamped zz,which I believe stands for 1953]and last but not least a Daisy BBgun Model 25 with a wooden stock, engraved body, and 5 patent numbers on it.That is all the info I have on them so any help would be great,Thank you in advance 59beemer

Sounds like a nice haul.... Please post pictures if you can (that helps us determine their condition). What was the price for the "lot"....?

Sounds like you hit the right yard sale. The JC Higgins 103.18 should be a Marlin 100 bolt action single-shot .22. These were made from '36 to '41. The Winchester 67A was made from '34 to '63. Early models had finger grooves on the side of the forend but I've never found a reference that told what year the grooves were dropped. Remington 514's were made from '48 to '70. "KE" would be May '58. The other 514 should have a date code on it also. The 67 would be the most valuable of these but it's all according to the condition.

Nice haul! Welcome to MSGO. You may not be in MS but we accept VOLS, especially those that share pictures of their good deals.

I think I know how you feel about the old .22s.
I always imagine some kid and his dad squirrel
hunting when times and issues were much less complicated.

Anyway, I like em too.
