My cousins first gun (Which I talked him in to).

Post by TankerHC on Tue Sep 13, 2011 5:06 pm

Well he got it. I talked him into getting a 1911 for his first gun so he went with that. I was thinking RIA but we hit at least 20 shops in the York area and this one was in the first one we went into in Seven Valleys. It's a Springfield 1911A1 V16 Long Slide in .45 Super. He got it with original case, 2 mags and cleaning rod for $750 out the door. Has all the upgrades of the Loaded plus some with 6 inch barrel and corresponding slide, ported (the V16 refers to the 8 ports on each side) and full length guide rod. NOW he wants to buy an RIA Tactical.

Had never heard of a .45 super until now. Are they making a niche in the gun market? Nice looking gun by the way.

I think a .45 Super can feed .45 ACP but may need a weaker recoil spring. It seems like I remember kits for a Glock that were a barrel and a recoil spring. The main difference from what I recall was a chamber that fully supported the case and a more powerful recoil spring.

Was the brass for a .45 Super a cut down .308 or am I remembering something else?

This gun comes with two springs. One for .45 ACP and +P and one for .45 super. You know what the ACP costs, the .45 Super is a little over a buck a round for the cheap stuff.

Calzaretta classifies this gun as "rare" because there was a limited run.

Several National Champions in various classes have used this gun.

Love a handgun with a long barrel. Reach out and touch someone.

First i have heard of the 45 super myself. $1 a round... better teach him about reloading.... FAST
