Newbie from Southaven

Just found this forum and joined tonight. Biographical outline: Dad was the Winchester rep for Arizona, New Mexico and West Texas when I was very young and everything the company made (at least 1 model, sometimes 2 or 3 plus the ammunition for them) was in the 3d bedroom of our Phoenix GI Bill tract home during the period (1948 to the end of '51). My first rifle was a model 47 (Christmas '49 when I was six) and I still have it today. Dad was recalled to Air Force as a fighter pilot for Korean War, found flying jets so much fun he decided to career it. Through all the moves to most parts of the country, hunting and shooting stayed a primary family interest. In '64 I was "greeted" and went Army green for a few years, including 14 months of advanced study in conflict resolution and nation building in sunny Southeast Asia. In more recent years since the move to Memphis area, I've developed a strong interest in self-defense pistol as result of an attempted carjack. I also shoot lots of rifles (including a 1954 Model 70 Featherweight in .308 that was Dad's Christmas present in '55), an AR in homage to my own service and more .22s than anyone should own. Gout, heel spur and arthritis sometimes impair movement so I'm headed toward benchrest shooting. Predictably, I am a card-carrying NRA'er (of the Life persuasion), passionate 2d Amendment advocate and Mississippi-legal concealed carry zealot. I look forward to participating here with like-minded patriots.
