Todays Gun Shoppin'

Post by 22lrfan on Sat Sep 17, 2011 11:19 pm

Joe told me about a rifle at Mitch's in Hamilton so today I headed that way. Hit about 6-7 pawn shops in Louisville, Starkville and West Point but couldn't find anything interesting. I ended up getting the rifle at Mitch's.
What I got is a Marlin 336 in .44 Magnum. Until about two weeks ago I never knew this one was ever made. Marlin introduced the .44 in the 336 in 1965 and dropped it in 1967 after making less than 14,000 of them. They added .44 Mag to the 1894 in 1968. This one was made in 1967. I shot it this afternoon and it shoots great.

Mitch has a lot of rifles laying arround out there. there is no telling what a guy could end up with. I have been dealing with him for some time now He knows his stuff when it comes to the oldies. I think a few years back he was broke into and lost a lot of very nice old rifles that he had collected. He is a nice fella but ya gotta chew on it with him about prices.
