Mossberg .22 bolt action?
I'm trying to find a good gun for my 8yr old daughter. I've been debating between a .410 or a .22. I finally decided on the .22 because I figured she could have more fun with it & bullets are cheap. This will be HER first gun. She has shot my Baikal .22 bolt & she is deadly with it while propped up. It's just too heavy for her. So, walking thru wally world the other day & saw a youth model Mossberg .22 bolt action that was solid PINK(her favorite color)... She would be plum tickled if I brought her a pink gun home. So my quesyion is, is it worth the $130 price tag. I can't remember for the life of me what model it was. I do know its a youth .22 bolt action. Are Mossberg rifles any good? I love their shotguns buy haven't heard much about the rifles.

For $130 I think you would make daddy of the year. Myself, I would look foe the pink cricket. Single shot bolt gun and it is youth sized. They make a pink laminate and a pink synthetic stock.

Personally i would buy a savage, not much more money and much higher quality than the mossbergs. I looked at a mossberg 17hmr new at dicks a year or 2 ago.... it would not cycle. Bolt was stuck/froze up on a new gun. All of the savages i have owned have been 100% reliable and very accurate. They even have one in pink.. plus you can change the stock later to a fullsize stock.

I wasn't necessarily looking for a Mossberg, that's just what they had on display. I was just wondering if they were any good. I'm interested in any type or model, as long as its reliable & safe. Thanks for the info.

Mossberg made very good 22 rifles back in the thirties, forties & fifties, & even some good ones in the sixties.
I have found some excellent examples of these for $100.00 at gun shows, & some good examples at pawn shops for less.
Here is a link to familiarize yourself with these fine old Mossbergs;
