Best holster for my new STI Trojan???
Hey guys, I recently ordered a 9mm STI Trojan from Dawson precision, and while I am waiting I am trying to get together a good rig for it.
I want to start shooting steel with it, but also may shoot some single stack minor with it just for fun.
I am going to buy either a CR speed or DAA belt, but not sure which holster or mag pouches.
for steel I want a CR speed WSM, but that would leave me without a holster for SS. Considering that, I was looking into a Blade Tech, either standard DOH or the Black ICE????
Any opinions or advice appreciated!

Re: Best holster for my new STI Trojan???
I've used the Blade-Tech DOH for a while and really liked it. I'm using a Ghost holster for my limited gun, but honestly the difference in draw speed is nothing.
Keep in mind that even the DOH is not legal for single stack. However, you can remove the "dropped and offset" attachment and have a perfectly legal single stack holster, and put it back on when shooting Steel Challenge.
I'm not super familiar with mag pouches for single stack but I know you shouldn't have to spend more than $25 or so each.
I'm glad you'll be coming out to shoot with us!

If you go with Blade-Tech be prepared for a possibly long wait. I ordered a holster off their 5-7 day Rush Items, that was on 8/31 and I'm still waiting.
Comp-Tac makes decent holsters and they even do a combo deal of holster and mag pouches for cheaper then buying them separately.

I use Blade-Tech for both ss and limited. I have no complaints. My last order took 30 days.

Im thinking I will mainly be shooting Steel (limited) so maybe the Black ice is the way to go? I also saw their "speed rig" but seems like if I was going to go that far a CR speed would be better.

Re: Best holster for my new STI Trojan???
The only thing the black ice does differently is it will allow the gun to cant a little when you draw from a seated position. As far as I know that is the only advantage it provides. If it were me in your shoes, I would go with a regular holster that can roll in both single stack and steel. I personally don't think there is going to be a major time difference on your draw and if there is we are talking maybe a tenth of a second, and your paying 180$ or so for that tenth of a second. just my opinion, take it for what it's worth.

Thanks, that makes sense.
What model would you suggest?

You will want to shoot USPSA with us. Shooting both steel and USPSA is a great way to improve your shooting skills. JD, Blade-Tech will email you at some point.

A plain hip type kydex holster from either comp-tac or blade-tech is what I would go with. Comp-tac is going to have the best turnaround time and I personally prefer their mag pouch design over blade-techs. And both of those will be legal for single stack division in uspsa

Re: Best holster for my new STI Trojan???
Thanks for all the help guys. I HATE gear decisions LOL, what it comes down to is that I want to buy about 3 different holsters
Its looking like a "standard" Blade Tech DOH is the way to go maybe??? ( I can always remove the DOH for SS)
As far as mag pouches I was looking at Safariland 771s or 773s?? seem to have a good reputation??
Oh and I am definitely going to be shooting some steel with yall, and probably some USPSA as well. Looking forward to it.
