.22LR Conversion kit for a Glock 22?

Post by Jarhead5811 on Fri Sep 23, 2011 12:29 pm

I had to resist the urge to hijack the thread about a Glock like .22 pistol.

Does anyone have recommendations or opinions on a .22LR Conversion kit for a Glock? I had been looking at possibly getting a 9mm barrel for my Glock 22 but after realizing I'd also have to replace my extractor lost interest and started looking at the .22LR kits. The one I'm looking at is the "Advantage Arms L.E. .22 Conversion Kit". I'm thinking it'd be a cool cheap way to practice with the feel and trigger on my Glock. Are there other kits?

If I liked it enough I might would go back and get a kit for my 27 as well.

You don't have to replace your extractor. I would not use it for self defense but practice will be ok.

Hmm, that changes things a bit but by the time you buy magazines and the replacement barrel the price climbs enough that the .22 kit still sounds interesting. I guess I might have to do both!

...eventually.

I had a kit and despite what Adavantage Arms said about using certain ammo, mine would feed any kind of ammo. The only drawback was only one mag in kit. No problems and saved a lot of money on ammo, even though I reload.

Cool, that's what I figured I don't reload and .22LR, even the premium stuff, is much cheaper than the elcheapo 9mm.

On a side note I've got a Buckmark but that's just not the same. I want it to help m familiarize myself, my wife, and eventually my boys to the Glock.

Tactical Solutions makes some nice 22 Conversions. I sold the Glock before I had a chance to shoot it. The 1911 has been a great shooting gun. It has become my son's favorite 22 pistol.

I had a Advantage Arms conversion kit for the 17/22. It was great but picky about ammo. Only Remington Golden bullet or CCI stuff would function reliably. Otherwise a great kit, I regret selling it myself.

You might be able to find one that is not so picky about ammo. Also, for about the same price you can get a ISSC M22, which is a Glock 19 clone in .22 caliber. That way you have a dedicated .22 gun.

I really wish Glock would make a .22 pistol themselves, they also won't make a slim 9mm. Oh well.
