Laserlyte side mount laser for Kel Tec p3at and ruger LCP

Post by Tennjed on Sat Sep 24, 2011 1:57 am

Does anyone have any experience with the Laserlyte side mounted laser for the Kel Tec p3at of ruger LCP? How well made is it? Does it hold zero?

It lookd to be by far the less obtrusive of any lase I have seen so far and for under $100 it is priced well.

A side mounted laser is not very practical if you're keeping your finger outside of the triggerguard. Your finger blocks the laser.

Any laser system I've ever tried to work with slows me down. I've never seen one that will replace proper shooting form.

STANCE

GRIP

SIGHT ALIGNMENT

TRIGGER CONTROL

No gadget will achieve this, ever.

With an LCP a good stance is about all you get. This setup could extend the range a bit for a pistol with poor sights, a very small grip and a crappy trigger. Not to mention being able to shoot armadillos in the dark with it!

I agree with Cliff, I've tried pistols with lasers and I spend more time trying to figure out where the dot is than anything else. I can't track the dot like I do with sights either. Even with the low profile sights on my LCP I can shoot 8 inch plates at 7 yards pretty easily. For a cheap pocket pistol I think it does everything it should. The only thing I changed on my was having it Black-T'ed so I could sweat all over it and not worry. It also helped smooth the trigger a bit.

Of course if your trying to shoot armadillos in the dark and don't have a flashlight I guess the laser would help.

recieved my laser last night. very easy to install and fits great on my kel tec p3at...very impressed with how low of a profile it is...fits in my pocket holster without any issues. button is well place and feels natural cutting on and off....thos ONLY complaint i have is it is not as bright as it could be. i compared it to a laser my son has on his ruger 22/45 and it is not as bright....still very usable and suffienct and overall well worth the $80 i spent
