.22 F-Class Rifle

Post by 22lrfan on Sun 25 Sep 2011 - 21:53

On my road trip yesterday to see the Dawgs play I ended up going to twelve pawn shops. I went by another six that were closed. I found a few interesting guns that I’ve added to my list. I’ve been looking for something to use in the .22 F-Class for a couple of months. I wanted something different. I found it yesterday at Gary’s Pawn in Columbus.

What I found is a NS 522. I’ve been researching it on the internet to figure out exactly what it is. There is some conflicting info but what I’ve found so far is that it is a Chinese made .22 bolt-action with a 5-rd magazine. About 2500 of them were imported by Keng’s Firearm’s Sales of Atlanta in either 1994 or 1996. They were made in the Chinese factory that makes rifles for the Chinese Olympic team. It has a 21” hammer forged barrel that was made on machinery provided by Brno or Steyr. The action was copied from Anschutz. The stock is American walnut provided by Bishop. It’s hand checkered in 18 lpi and has a rubbed oil finish. It weighs 7lb-2oz and has a 1 ½ lb trigger pull. The receiver was grooved for 3/8” scope mounts but this one has been d&t for Weaver bases. It’s a really nice looking rifle. I can’t wait to get a scope mounted and try it out.

I've never heard of such a thing, but that is a very nice looking rifle, and I bet it shoots great too. I really like the barrel finish.

Very interesting...and different. Been wondering if you will ever join us at a match. You've been missing some fun.

Looking forward to a range report.

thumbs up
