The old gunshop on Raymond road near shady lane

Post by PhillipM on Sun 25 Sep 2011 - 22:31

Years ago I went in there and hanging on the wall was a fancy figured left handed M1 garand stock with a thumbhole pistol grip. It had a tag of $100 and I didn't have $100 back then and figured, hey, it's not going anywhere. , I thought, how many left handed garand shooters are there in South Jackson?

Anyways about then the guy that owned it was murdered when the store was held up. Does anyone know if the inventory is still sitting in storage somewhere? I'm grasping straws but what the heck, it may still be around town.

It had something to do with a target, bullseye or something like that. IIRC it was a USMC vet that ran it.

Larry with Discount around the corner was good people. I think lung cancer did him in.

That was GunWorks. It was owned by Paul Crechale.

The same as in Crechale's Restaurant on HWY 80?

Here's a link to an old article about the robbery/shooting that took place in June 2002:

Yeah, it's sad to remember all that. I recall one of the family discussed it with Bill O'Reilly when he had his radio show.
