Got a "NEW" S&W Model 28 /357 Magnum

Post by Doug Bowser on Mon Sep 26, 2011 8:19 pm

I bought a S&W Model 28 Highway patrolman .357 Magnum Revolver tonight. The revolver was not fired a lot and carried little. It is 95%+ with a mint bore and chambers. The action is very tight and the trigger pull is crisp. The only downside is, the guy I bought it from killed his Brother with it. His Brother attacked his Family and seriously injured his Wife. He shot him when he threw his Children against the walls of the house and threatened to stick his Daughter's hand in a running garbage disposal. The man was exonerated and they gave him his revolver back. I have no qualms about owning it. I say the hog leg did a good job. On the side of the revolver there are the initials WCJ for Detective Smokey Jones of the McComb Police Department. This incident happened 30 years ago.

This revolver, if it is accurate, might make a great as issued revolver for the matches at the Magnolia Club.It would be a stable firearm to shoot with one hand as well.

The best part of it, I bought it for $325 w/ holster and a box of cartridges.

I will add images as soon as I can.

Doug

How often have we said "if only this gun could talk"? This one has an amazing history...and you got a great deal.

I have known this man for 35 years and he is as good a person as I have ever met. The revolver was made in 1970. They quit making them in 1986.

Nothing wrong with a bit of history. Like the 357 I got that still had the evidence tag hanging on it with the name, date, ect. Offense-Suicide, 5 loaded 357's and one fired case taped to the back of the tag.

Nice old Smitty Mr. Doug! My 28 isn't nearly as clean but I have a nice 357 Magnum, a 1954 if I remember correctly.

I'll give you your money back on it!!!!!!!!! I've got a 4" that was a duty gun for a few years. I've not shot a finer handgun then that model. Great find and great story to go with it.

I've got a fellow holding a PD duty gun for me, doesn't look anywhere near that nice but they sure aren't getting any cheaper. Nice find!

The guy was killed with one shot. One of the chambers is marked at the back of the cylinder. I am going to try and shoot it tonight. I will post photos of the targets .
