Guns I'd like to own...

Post by Joe S. on Tue Sep 27, 2011 9:56 pm

Was reading one of Sid's posts in one of my threads and I got to thinkin. Not sure I've seen this one. If its here it hasn't been lately...

So what guns would you like to own. I know, I know... All of them. But really. What's the top 10 or so that you want more than any other?

Here's mine as of this minute:
1 ) Marlin 336 Texan in 35 Remington. One of the originals. 18.5" barrel with straight stock. Had a 20" in 30/30 once is as close as I've gotten.
2 ) Ruger #1 in 444 marlin. Custom gun cause they don't offer this caliber. Nice figured walnut with a tapered octogon barrel, case colored reciever, lever, and scope rings and a Nikon Monarch African gun scope about 1-4x24.
3 ) T/C Encore pistol, also in 444 Marlin. 14" ported barrel and nice wood stocks with maybe a 1-4-ish scope.
4 ) Ruger Vaquero in 44 mag. 4.5" barrel. Also prefer a case colored reciever.
5 ) Marlin Cowboy, also in 444 marlin with smooth, not checkered walnut stock, full length mag tube and no cross bolt safety.
6 ) 1911. Springfield loaded or TRP, Ruger, or better
7 ) 4" smith 686 or GP100 Ruger
8 ) Nice compact bolt action for packin. Maybe in 308 caliber
9 ) Another bolt action for punchin paper. Not a full blown custom but a nice build with quality components and a good trigger
10 ) Marlin 357 levergun, either the cowboy or carbine. Not picky.

Ok, so what about yall?

6. 4" Smith 686 or 586
7. Small .380 pistol probably a Walther P380
8. Cimarron Arms Frontier Scout in .357

1) S&W Lew Horton 24-3 w/3" barrel in 44 mag
2) M1 Garand - a NICE one.
3) M1A SA - to compliment the Garand.
4) WWII Luger 9mm
5) Browning A-5 Sweet 16
6) Wilson Combat Elite Professional
7) Colt Python/Diamondback/Cobra
Cool Marlin 336 in plain ol' 30-30 to play with
9) S&W 686-3 with a 6" barrel
10) Marlin 336/1894 in .357 Magnum

Some of these are dreams and some are more realistic. I see the Marlins and a Garand (maybe not so nice) in the not so distant future.

I have odd tastes.

1) 1903 Springfield National Match
2) 1903 Springfield NRA sporter
3) 1928 or 1921 Thompson
4) Colt Monitor or BAR
5) Pre WAR Winchester model 70 with stripper clip guide and heavy barrel.
6) Super match M1 garand in laminated stock, triple lugged, all the bells and whistles.
7) Compass lake .22LR upper with Krieger barrel
Cool M14 TRW
9) Remington UMC 1911
10) 1885 High wall in 35 remington

Semi realistically I've been contemplating a collection consisting of all John M Browning's designs. Their uniqueness shows his genius.

Current wish list for me...Yes it gets pricey

1 22 suppressor
2 romanian psl (7.62x54 semi auto) Already have about 1300 rds of ammo for my nagants.
3 krinkov registered short barrel rifle.
4 saiga 12 built to resemble a krinkov
5 build the 10/22 ive had since i was 12 into a sbr.
Would like a norrell trigger group for it, but ill never spend that much( about $10 grand)
6 mp5 parts kit to build as a semi auto but capable of taking a registered auto sear pack.
7 savage 17hmr to match my markII 22
8 ruger 22/45 with threaded barrel
9 build my mossberg with the tan stock into a registered sbs.
10 custom f class type rifle probably built on a savage.

I have recently added a few to the collection so my want list is about complete. I have added a Ruger Vaquero in .357, a 22/45 Mark III short barrel with slab sides, Henry 22 lever gun and the one I was really looking for was a marlin 1894 in .357. It took me a while but I found a really nice gun in very nice shape and got a pretty good deal on it also. I guess my only wants right now are a Springfield Ultra compact or EMP in .45 or .40 and maybe a Saiga 12 guage. I have also been on the lookout for a 12 guage side x side coach gun with hammers and screw in chokes. One other gun I have always wanted is a street sweeper but I'm pretty sure they are outlawed so that's probably never going to happen.

Street sweepers are available and legal if they were registered prior to may 86. They are classified as a destructive device. Same type tax stamp as a suppressor, etc. There are 2 on gunbroker right now.

Street Sweeper that reminds me, I always wanted a SPAS-12 shotgun. The original 8 shot with the folding stock, not the one 6 shot fixed stock they built and imported to the US after they banned the original in 1989. Have not seen one in yrs guess they are getting had to find since Franchi stopped production of them in 2000.

RW and Bubbat summed it up about the list changing by morning!
Add a M1 in one of the "short barrel" configurations Springfield is offering now. Smile

Dhollis, that #1 is a dream I've been putting together for a while now. I really hope to make that one happen one day... Hopefully sooner than later. I'd like to hunt with it next season.

I have wanted a Smith & Wesson registered magnum for a long time with any barrel length but I fear I will never own one.
