ROADTRIP!!!

Wish I had about $2k laying around.

Don't understand why they release all this at once...bogs them down and ruins my budget.

Probably no roadtrip for me ... Bet the line will be a line long -- would have to get there about 4AM to get a good spot in line!!

Really would like to go after a couple '03s (RIA & SC) BUT have spent all my gun money on .22s and .22 ammo .... SAD!! crying

Remember, If you get an 03 with a bad barrel, I have the tools to re-barrel one.

My hat is in the ring for Rem and Smith-Corona 03A3's. Doug, is rebarreling the same for 03's and 03A3's?

What does it take to order one (other than $350 and S/H)? I belong to MR&P, now. Does that qualify me to purchase?

It is a similar process but it takes more effort to rebarrel a 1903, because of the rear sight sleeve.

Straight fromt he CMP Website:

Proof of U.S. Citizenship: You must provide a copy of a U.S. birth certificate, passport, proof of naturalization, or any official government document that shows birth in the U.S. or states citizenship as U.S.

Proof of Age: You must provide proof of age. Usually proof of citizenship also provides proof of age. In those cases where it may not, a driver’s license is sufficient.

Membership in CMP Affiliated Organization: You must provide a copy of your current membership card or other proof of membership. This requirement cannot be waived. The CMP currently has over 2,000 affiliated organizations located in many parts of the country.

Marksmanship or other Firearms Related Activity: You must provide proof of participation in a marksmanship related activity or otherwise show familiarity with the safe handling of firearms and range procedures. Your marksmanship related activity does not have to be with highpower rifles; it can be with smallbore rifles, pistols, air guns or shotguns. Proof of marksmanship participation can be provided by documenting any of the following:

Current or past military service.
Current or past law enforcement service
Participation in a rifle, pistol, air gun or shotgun competition (provide copy of results bulletin).
Completion of a marksmanship clinic that included live fire training (provide a copy of the certificate of completion or a statement from the instructor).
Distinguished, Instructor, or Coach status. - Concealed Carry License.
Firearms Owner Identification Cards that included live fire training. - FFL or C&R license.
Completion of a Hunter Safety Course that included live fire training.

Certification from range or club official or law enforcement officer witnessing shooting activity. A form for use in completing and certifying your range firing can be downloaded from the CMP web site at http://www.odcmp.com/competitions/forms/marksmanship.pdf

No proof of marksmanship required if over age 60. Proof of club membership and citizenship required for all ages. NOTE: Proof of marksmanship activity is not required for purchase of ammunition, parts, publications or memorabilia.

Be Legally Eligible to Purchase a Firearm:The information you supply on your application will be submitted by the CMP to the FBI National Instant Criminal Check System (NICS) to verify you are not prohibited by Federal, State or Local law from acquiring or possessing a rifle. Your signature on the Purchaser Certification portion of the purchase application authorizes the CMP to initiate the NICS check and authorizes the FBI to inform CMP of the result. IMPORTANT: If your State or locality requires you to first obtain a license, permit, or Firearms Owner ID card in order to possess or receive a rifle, you must enclose a photocopy of your license, permit, or card with the application for purchase.

If you have any questions about what may be acceptable or not to meet the above criteria - ask us - we may be able to help.

Saw that also -- seems a little crazy to pay $50 more one they say is rusty -- do not mention rust regarding the $350 ones!! I would bet the $400 comes with iron sights and the $350 do not - just my guess ...

The sales page note no sights for any of the .22's. That's why I chose to skip them this time.

Who's going? What do you need from Magnolia, you're card? I let my VFW card lapse and need to renew.

Magnolia badge works for "club" portion. Mississippi Firearms Permit satisfies "marksmanship" requirement.

Yep, me too. I sure wanted to get one of the 513Ts, but after around $200 or more for a set of sights and $20-$30 for a magazine I figured I woud pass too. $150 is sure attractive though.

Received Remington 03A3 from CMP last week. A Smith-Corona is being shipped today. The Remington is a very nice rifle; anxious to see the S-C. Will try to post pictures.

CMP O3A3s

Post by bwct on Tue Nov 22, 2011 10:40 am

Finally uploaded photos of my "new" O3A3s. Doug, I don't think either of these will need barrel replacement.

VERY - VERY Nice!! Both of them. I feel like a fool for not going ahead and pulling the trigger for one of those SCs ... Got 2 Remingtons but the SC is missing in action!! Was concentrating way too much on the 22's!!
