Made a Decision on a Press
Been going round and round trying to decide between the Hornady and Rockchucker and finally just broke down and ordered the Hornady Loc-N-Load classic single stage kit. The free bullet deal won out over the beam scale in the RCBS kit. I will probably break down and buy a scale different than what comes in the Hornady kit. Ordered dies and shell holders for the 40 s&w and 38/357 so hopefully can begin resizing and depriming some brass soon.

I have a single stage press RCBS and the .40 S&W dies. I sat down and loaded up about 200 of them and am never going to do it again on a single stage press. Let us know how much fun you have loading them. I only use my single stage for precision rifles now.

You will definitely love it. I just bought the same kit from bass pro shop about 3 weeks ago for 299.99. They were selling it for around $350 but they price matched cabelas for me to make the deal. I just got my 500 free .308 bullets from them. Its the most expensive once you can get out of them so im hoarding them.

good deal. good starter kit, if you load like i do the single will do for a long time. BUT be fair warned, first you get hooked, then its another caliber and larger doses and before long your gut hooked.

I've pretty well settled on the calibers I want and other than a .45 probably won't be adding anything new. If I really like reloading eventually I'm sure a progressive will come along for my most popular calibers and the single stage can be used for my rifle stuff.

Re: Made a Decision on a Press
every time i go to the range, i collect about 300 pieces of brass. so far i have about 5000 pieces between 38, 380, 9mm, 40, 45, 223, 308. The majority is in the 223 and 9mm. atleast 3000 of those combined. i dont own a 40 or 45 but very possibly might some day in the near future. every 9mm casing is like picking up a nickel. 223 is even better. Keep that in mind the next time you pass them up. you can always use them as bargaining chips or barter.

well, another trip to the range and ive got another 1000 or so. i got alot of .45 and alot of 223. a few 9mm and some 380. altogether i think it was about 1000 pieces or so. right now all my containers are overflowing with 45, 9mm, 223 and 40. the 38, 380, 308, and 357 sig are kinda half way there but rest assured, if im not loading it, im hoarding it for barter or whatever. range brass is still worth something.
