Personal Sale Question

Post by mackied on Sat Oct 01, 2011 7:18 am

All you guys are a great wealth of knowledge so I figured I'd ask my question here.

For personal sales in the state of MS is the requirement face to face between the buyer and seller? More specifically would it be legal for a friend or family member to sell the firearm on your behalf in the event that you were not able to meet the buyer in person?

Since MS has no registration process I see no reason that this would be a problem....but I could be wrong.

Be sure you keep a record of your gun sales and the ID info on the people you sell to. If a firearm is used in a crime after you sell it, it is a good idea to have proof of who you sold it to.

I always show a valid MSDL, kind to a hint to the buyer/seller to show me their's. I kill someone with a firearm I bought, the legalities of getting it are mute compared to the investigation and any lawyering up I may have to do.

I'm not a scribe or a record keeper for the gov. If they're a state resident, and I feel comfortable selling them the gun, all I want is the cash.
