The quest continues - shooting glasses
Well the quest for improvement continues today. Stopped of at deadeyedoc's office to get a script for my not being able to see the front sight as well as I wanted.
Then the quest became getting a pair of perscription shooting glasses.
After a quick spin on brianenos.com it became pretty apparent that Rudy's Project shooting glasses were well liked. I chose the Exception model because of teh flip up style lense. They also have a model where the interchangeable lense are on the inside...those kinda freaked me out having so much very near your eye...To each his own however.
One of the challenges in deciding on shooting glasses is what color to get the lenses
You usually have about 5 choices
clear, yellow, brown, gray and red
At about $450 a pop one sure better like the color he selects or one can spend a pile of $
Yellow is good for low-light it brightens things up
Brown is for cloudy to sunny days
Gray is for super bright days
Red is for improved contrast.
I settled on the Rudys Project Exception Frames with a set of Clear and a set of Brown flip up lenses.
The lenses pop off real quick in case your lighting conditions change during a match.
I figured I'd be safe with clear (LOL) and the brown for bright sunlight as I will be shooting outdoors.
I also selected that they polarized....fine for iron sights but not so fine if you shoot Open class and use a red dot or a Halo.
Anyway, this is how I went through my selection process for RX shooting glasses...I hope they help me remove at least one excuse for my performance...If you can't see the front sight, the rest is just wasting lead.
PS...I located the Rudy Project Frames @ Precision Optical 4339 Lakeland Dr Flowood see Glyn Harris

I am going with the Wiley-X PT3. I like the Rudys but the Wiley-X are about a 1/3rd of the price of them.

I am going with clear, don't like tinted lens in my glasses, have not even owned a pair of sunglasses in 20yrs.
You can get extra tinted lens for the PT3 for $24 each and you can get the PT3 with all three tints included clear, rust and smoke in a kit from their website.

My new "Toy"
well my Rudy Project Exception Model shooting glasses with perscription finally made it.
God I hope they help....
I highly recommend seeing Dr. Tommy Cabell in Jackson if you are having shooting eye sight issues. Dr. Cabell is an awesome shot and understands what a shooter needs.
The glasses are set up so that I can see much better up close...The front site is much clearer now...this is at the expense of objects farther away not being totally clear....you are not suppose to be watching the target any way I'm told but that front site....
Ahhh the joys of middle age....
Shown with brown lense..for bright sun...also ordered a clear for cloudy days...the snap on lenses go over the perscription part and add a little more width for protection....they snap on real quick or flip as shown...next up (after I get over the $ damage) is the orange or red lense for contrast. Each color lense you order is about $100...they also have green, grey, red and yellow
Yellow makes me dizzy.

Sorry I didn't get in here sooner. www.erudy.com has these for $150 for the Exceptions with one pair of colored lenses. They are a great setup for shooting.
