Some suggestions for 600 yard HP rifle shooting
Sight come ups with a 100 yard zero, using one MOA sight adustments
100 to 200 yards, up 2 clicks
200 to 300 yards, up 3 clicks
3900 to 600 yards, up 12 clicks
These sight adjustments should have you on paper at 600 yards. It is also important to use Match Grade ammo at 300 and 600 yards. The acceptable Parameter of USGI .30 M2 and 7.62 M80 Ball at 600 yards is 20". That is twice the size of the 10 ring and about the size of the 8 ring. Some lots of Ball ammo are better than that but they are usually not. I suggest the following handloads:
.30-06: 168 gr Hornady or Sierra with 46 gr IMR 4895 and a WW large rifle primer
7.62 NATO: 168 gr Hornady or Sierra with 41.5 gr IMR4895 and a WW large rifle primer

Doug - What is your favor load for .223 when shooting the 600 yd match? What is the correct AR-15 sight adjustments needed for 200, 300 & 600 yrds ?

At Appleseed with a 100yd zero, we teach 100 to 200, 3 moa, 200 to 300, 3 moa, 300 to 400, 4moa, 400 to 500, 4moa, 500-600, 5moa. This should get you on paper. Depending on your AR, it should be 2 clicks per MOA.

I use 80 gr Sierra with 24 gr IMR 4895. I cannot tell you the seating depth because I have a Wylde Chamber and it is different than the NATO chamber.

I have based these come ups on Mid-Range HP rifle shooting I have done since 1962.

As an addendum to what Doug has posted:
At Saturday's match I was shooting some of that new-fangled .30-'06 Hornady 168 gr. AMAX match grade ammo in my M-1 that they've come out with.
Shooting that particular ammo, my correct adjustments were:
from a 200 yd. zero - 2 clicks to get to 300 yds.
from 300 yds. - 11 clicks to get to 600 yds.
Maybe the Hornady is a tad hotter or the AMAX bullet is a tad more efficient than typical 168 gr. match loads.

Lot's of variables, it's just supposed to get you on paper anyhow. The rule of thumb set in stone is 2 2 3 3 4 4 5 5 6 6
From target to 100 = 2 min
100 - 200 = 2
200 - 300 = 3
300 - 400 = 3
400 - 500 = 4
500 - 600 = 4
600 - 700 = 5
700 - 800 = 5
800 - 900 = 6
900 - 1000 = 6

Oh, I wasn't trying to dispute anybody.
Just adding to the general body of dope knowledge for the particular load I was shooting in case someone else was gonna use the same stuff.
