You could buy a million of them if you wanted.

If I could just have today's income with those prices it would be great. That add was from 1960. Not sure what the average income was back then.

Bought my first M1 Carbine from the DCM for $20. It was a Winchester and all Winchester. The cheap scoundrels did not give me a magazine for it. M1 NM rifles were $125, 1911 refurbished .45's were $19, new 1903-A3 rifles $34 including shipping.

What about Hogdon 4831 for $.14 per pound and H4895 for $.42 per pound. Primers were $.26 per 100 from the DCM and .30 M2 ball and .30 M1 Carbine ammo was $.03 each.

Not to be a bummer, but using an inflation calculator I've found $189.50 in 1968 was equivalent to $1,233.63 today. So, a standard AR is cheaper today than then.

I shall use your numbers on my wife, not that she cares, just for her to be happy with me bringing home a new one w/o the rolling of the eyes!

I hear that Colt is gonna have a "Roll Back to the 60's" day when they will price all their AR's to 60's prices. Cant tell ya when though, they told me not to tell.

What about K98K Mausers? In the VFW magazines they are selling souvenier grade for $399 and collectors grade for $499. A year ago same seller was selling them for $100 less each.

Got mine in ’63 from Tooele Army Depot, Utah, for $17.50 + $2.50 “packaging & handling”. Don’t recall about the magazine.

Weep over this....

Just to round out the picture, got my 1911 12/3/62 for $17 (no shipping or handling shown – can’t believe that) from Red River Arsenal, Texas. It was a Remington Rand. Based on the serial number, was manufactured in 1945.

If the political climate keeps going towards Socialism $1,000 for an AR will one day be a steal.
