S&W Model 29

Post by krunnels on Mon Oct 03, 2011 5:26 pm

Took my Model 29 with 8 3/8" barrel and Leupold 2X scope out the other day to make sure it was still sighted in for deer season. Got several 3" groups at 200 yards with it.
I think it's ready! Razz

Dang, must have a stock on it! That's some serious shooting there!

No stock, just an excellent rest and some handloads that it loves. I had the preacher out there with me getting some trigger time. He's never harvested a deer before, so I'm going to make that my mission this year. He was shooting on of my rifles to get familiar with it and I decided to try the .44. Shot it at 25, 50 and 100 yards. He asked how it did at 200 and I told him that I had no clue. I'd never shot it that far before. Even though the accuracy is there, I'll still limit my shots at deer to 100 yards or less.

No pics that time. I plan on doing some more shooting with it once I get over this sinus infection. I'll take some then. I was just stoked I could hit the target at 200 yards! It's 3" high at 25, 2.5" high at 50 and dead on at 100. At 200 yards, it's 2' low.
