I like me some Hank. Gonna get a CD tomorrow. Saw him for the first time in 78, he played at Town Creek Saloon on a Thursday night. The parts I remember were great. Did not make it back to Starksburg for class the next day, lol.

Town Creek, hadn't heard that place mentioned in a while. I guess we all got Town Creek stories (most we want to forget).
Yeah, poor joke but that was it, just a joke. Same as MNF now, just a joke. Can't remember the last time I sat and watched one of their games all the way through.

espn needs to grow a pair.... every football game i can ever remember has always started with HWjr song....
Re: This makes me want to buy some more Hank Jr music!!!
PS. Boycottin espn till little Hank is back on like he should be. We all know he ain't xactly PC. The response should have been "the views and opinions on here are not espn's. Hank is entitled to his opinion, and, thanks to the 1rst amendment, he can state it."

I have yet to understand the "Political Correct" thing.
It sounds like somebodys excuse of saying dont hurt their feelings and apologise for everything. Heck i thought apologising was a sign of weakness , oh wait.... They are weak.

Town Creek.... HA! Loved that place. Actually went in there this past Monday night. Although now it's called "Babes" I think. No.... I don't frequent those places, we had a warrant and were looking for someone. Felt like I needed fumigating when I left.
GO HANK!! Love his stuff. Would go buy another CD if I didn't already have everything he's released.

I've got Hank Jr's Greatest hits I, II & III and 'America, The Way I See It' but now think I'll dig a little deeper and see what I've been missing.

Hank Sr. was great! So is his boy.
Hank Jr. is a gun loving, hell raising outspoken guy. And as he has sung, if you don't like him you can kiss his ___.
I've seen him live and everything. (Been to Town Creek in the old days but Hank was not there.)
My favorite Hank Jr. line:
"You can send me to hell or New York city. It'd be about the same to me."

I was a big Hank Jr fan till in the late '80's I spent my hard earned cash on a concert ticket to see him in Jackson. All there was to the show was a drunk sitting on a stool playing a steel guitar. In the ESPN case I think they were wrong to can him though.
I claim the 5th on just about anything that happened in the Town Creek. I was there for the last reunion they had in I guess 1993 ish when Lillian Axe played.
Babes calls me to fix their neon and when finished I'm immediately paid in cash and they've never arugued about the price, they just say thanks for the prompt service. I wish all my customers paid like that.

I was at that concert also, big time letdown. But I have been to others of his and loved them. He was one of my favorites back in the 80's.

I read once that Waylan Jennings made more money on the Dukes of Hazard song than all of his other songs combined.
I suspect that the same is true for Hank Jr. and the football song.
I don't watch sports on TV; so I cannot stop watching ESPN.

"God, Guns, and Guts"
This is a typical move by liberal based Disney (in case you were unaware: Disney owns espn, abc, etc.)

ESPN has a right to stop playing a song based on the Hank Williams Jr's political statements just as radio stations had a right to stop playing Dixie Chicks songs based on their political statements. Oddly enough enough, a lot of the people who supported such a move when it was the Dixie Chicks' music are suddenly against it when it is Hank Williams Jr.
In my opinion (which, along with about $7 will buy you a cup of coffee at Starbucks), Hank Williams Jr, along with the Dixie Chicks, Tony Bennet, and every other singer would do well to keep their political opinions to themselves and sing. I either like your music (movies; tv shows; books; etc) or I don't. I don't want to hear about your political beliefs.
Again...just my opinion.

I was at the 80's concert in Jackson also. It was a total train wreck. I left while he was standing on the piano dressed only in his jeans and boots swinging the microphone hollerin Kaliga as loud as he could. It was the last time I ever saw him in concert. I have listened to a lot of his music but it's always been over the radio in some form or another. The thing I'm tired of the most is the whole PC movement being rammed down my throat. I will admit that I'm not too PC myself at time and I really could care less who that offends.

Humphrey Bogart was asked his political opinion once. He said, "If an actor wants to send a message, he should use Western Union."
Of course ESPN has a right to fire Hank. Just because they have a right does not mean it is the correct thing to do and that is the difference between the Hank firing and the Dixie Chicks boycott.
We as Americans have the right to express our opinion without government persecution, the first amendment doesn't say someone spouting off can't be vilified by the public.
I missed him on the piano, I think I was vainly trying to get my money back or had already left.
