action bedding

Post by spmwheels on Fri Oct 07, 2011 3:55 pm

Considering getting my action bedded on my 22 f-class "savage mkII BV" I know very little about doing this and I was just wondering what advice some of you might have for me who have had this done "what kind of bedding would be best" "who to go to in my area to get it done"? I'm figuring on going to Bills in Utica unless someone has another smith in mind that is as good or better for bedding. Any and all info is appreciated thanks.

listen to grasshopper, he tought me well. I have the bedding kit if you want to borrow it and use some of it. my scores went fron a 579/16 x's to a 595/36 x's with the help of bedding. was it all cause of the bedding? no cause I am a hell of a marksman Razz , whatever". it tightens up your group alot and is a great improvement over not having it done.

I have no doubts it helps.

Don't forget the releasing agent or it will be hard to get apart, and check for mechanical lock's as that will make you pull your hair out.YBRF Rambo

If you ever stick a rifle together with bedding material, put the rifle in a freezer for a few days and lightly tap the receiver and breech end of the barrel with a rubber mallet. It will usually separate the stock from the rifle.

I have the AGI video on how to glass bed if anyone wants it. I can try to e-mail it if someone has a large e-mail account or rapidshare.

Here's a site with many pictures on how to do it to an old Mauser. I highly recommend the site to learn how to tinker with surplus bolt guns.
