Remington 770 and Bushmaster Patrolman

as I have read a lot of reviews on the 770, I have heard nothing but bad things about it. However I bought the rifle chambered in .270Win and even used the scope included and so far I have zero problems out of it. I took it out and ran about 40 rounds through it so far and the groups are tight at 100 yards. I have no complaints from the rifle so far, although I will be buying a new scope for it soon. What would be a good scope with variable power for this rifle. Trying to keep things on a budget.

Also Im wanting to by an AR platform. And I see the Bushmaster Patrolman is an affordable option but Im wondering if anyone here owns one or has shot one.
