Help with a Remington "THE SPEEDMASTER"..
I just acquired a remington .22 rifle. It has THE SPEEDMASTER & model 241 on the side. It loads in the side of the buttstock & spits the casings out of the bottom. It looks really old & I've never seen one before. But its missing the piece that goes into the butt. I don't know what goes there, I'm guessing a tube of some sort. Can any guide me in the right direction on where to find one? Also, what can anyone tell me about this gun?

The Remington 24 & 241 are a John Moses Browning design that was first made by Remington, then by Browning called the 22 Auto, still in production. I own a Browning, it's a great little .22. They also takedown with the little slide in front of the chamber.
The part you need is the "inner magazine tube assembly", and lucky for you they are available for about $25!

241's were made from '35 to '49. On the left side of the barrel just in front of the receiver there should be 2 or 3 letters. These letters tell what month and year it was made. You can see a date code chart at this link: http://www.wisnersinc.com/additional_info/remington_date_code.htm
