Jerry has done a couple of demos at the LA Gator Classic USPSA match in the past. Part of the demo includes the 500 and he gives some "advice" for selling your wife on the idea of getting one. He touts it as the ultimate kitchen appliance, touting it as a can opener and proceeds to open a can as mentioned by nhstk02. He also shoots a can of shaving cream which is pretty impressive, although I am not sure why one would want to open a can of shaving cream... He also says it "dices", and he shoots a cabbage. He hand picks a nice, tight one and shoots it in the center of the base. It's another impressive display. Seems like there was something else but that is all that comes to mind.

Well if I had a wife like Jerry, I'm sure I wouldn't have to "sell" too hard.

If you havent purchased the 500 yet, I wouldn't. Yes the 460 is a little more, but it gives you more of a choice with ammo. You can use the 45 to go out in the back and "plink" with or ya can take the 460 out for hunting. Dont personally own a 500 but have the 460. I am not the best with a handgun but am accurate with this one. Recoil isnt to bad due to the compensators that come with it and the weight. Dont think you can purchase the Alaskan version anymore, could be wrong though, which means 8's gonna be the shortest barrel. If nothin else, ya can always ask dirty harry if he feels lucky. Hope this helps.
